70017 error

The error code 80070017 indicates a read error in one of the installation files. This may be caused by a corrupt installation medium (dirty, scratched or otherwise defective DVD; image burn process went wrong in case you created the DVD yourself from an image; defective memory if installation from USB stick).

The file may also got faulty on download; try to download the installation image again.

If the error persists, clean your DVD burner, use quality media and lower the burn speed.

I fitted a new DVD Writer on my computer (XP Pro) and when I put a disc in the rom, a Microsoft error message poped up 'Windows Media Player cannot play the DVd because a compatible DVD decoder is not...

That's going to be a software error. Basically just letting you know that it has no idea how to play the file. Might need to upgrade to the latest Media Playerif you're trying to actually play a movie, or just disable autoplay to get rid of the message entirely

How do I get a codec for my samsung dvd burner?

You don't need to get a codec for your DVD drive but for your operating system. You can get the latest one here. Just click the Download [ K-Lite Codec Pack 6.9.0 Full ] It comes with Windows Media Player Classic and a host of decoders needed to play any video or audio file.

Another great application I found on the net is called VLC Media Player, it can literally play ANY media file, especially HD videos that Media Player Classic can't handle, and the best thing is that it is totally 100% FREE, it can be found here.

Goes to copy files onto DVD with windows media player, but comes up with a long error code right at the end. Have changed speed down to x4 even though dvd's support 16x

Have you tried any other software for burning files??
I use a couple of free programs.
IMGBURN very good, can burn data and image files, but cant make an audio disc from mp3 files
CDBurnerXP this can do everything
If you are still having problems after using these programs, try write the error code down and we can take it from there

What do you when it says target disck is not ready on a duplicator

Your disk *WITH* the data is the "source" disk.

Your "blank" disk is the "target" media.

Try a different "blank" disk.
If not any better, then take the unit to a computer technician, to trouble-shoot the hardware that is used to write onto the "target" media.

Trying to burn a playlist from my itunes account and get 4261 error message, what does this mean?

Hi there,

The ITunes error 4261 appears when attempting to burn CD's. The error code can appear for several reasons, including a faulty CD-RW, used CD's or a slow speed burner.

The error may also occur when you are trying to burn a file that has Dynamic Random Memory from ITunes & you have exceeded your permitted attempts.

The error can also happen if you are accessing the files from a different PC than where it was registered.

Try slowing your burn speed to 16x or even 12x or use Nero Express or Windows Media Player to burn your MP3 files. Other techniques for resolving this error include using new CD's & activating DLA in the Drive Properties.

I truly hope that one of these solutions clearly resolves your problem. Good luck.

Kindest regards,

Ste

My Fujitsu Laptop DVD Burner would not allow me to burn a dvd-r.

First, check to make sure that your DVD burner accepts DVD-R media. You do this by checking the hardware specifications of the manufacturer. Some DVD burners are only made for DVD+R.

If your DVD burner is made to accept DVD-R media, then try a different brand of DVD-R's and see if the burner recognizes the DVD media.

Sometimes a firmware upgrade will solve the problem and there are some companies which are even clever enough to let geeks copy the boot blocks of the CD's or DVD's and add them to the firmware themselves.

I've had all sorts of problems with DVD's before, most of them were solved when checking the specifications and then asking about the media. I even had DVD's that simply weren't correctly manufactured; the crystalline structure wasn't functioning. There were even areas where I could see through the media. I brought them back to the store I bought them from and the company that made them sent me a letter of apology with 2 replacements for the 1 that I bought.
