Question about IBM ThinkPad T42 Notebook
When i press power ON button it comes on but will not boot, one of the green LED before the battery indicator LED will be ON but the LCD remain black. Sometimes when it tries to boot it hangs after working for 1 minute I have the same problem too. The green LED on the left of the battery indicator (just before it) shows up when I press the power on switch the laptop. When I again press power on, this LED goes off. It repeats the same again and again when power switch is pressed. There is no display at all. When the green LED is on, I can hear that the fan inside the laptop is rotating. When the LED is not on, the fan noise also goes off.
Try this... to see if your video card is bad...
Connect your laptop to an external monitor and press the Function key plus F5 on the laptop... if your OS shows up on the monitor screen, then you have a bad video card...
If its not the video, Bad Ram might be the cause.
And worst case.. Need Motherboard replaced...
