Question about Amana NAV5800A Top Load Washer

Cold water dripping from input

The shut off is not fully working. I have a constant drip into the tub from the cold water input. It fills up the tub in about 24 hours. Is this a simple seal problem, are special tools or parts needed to fix? Thanks

It (unlikely) could be a forign voltage causing your problem. Just unplug the machine and verify the problem continues. Assuming that it does, you likely have debris inside your inlet valve. Since it not servicable, it would need to be replaced. To do this, unplug the unit. Using a putty knife or small flat blad screw driver, push on the 2 clips where the top of the washer meet the front panel while lifting the top. (a flash light will help you see these) The valve is usually held on be 1/4 or 5/16 screws. A replacement valve can be purchased from a local appliance parts store or on line from the manufacture.

My washer is leaking into the drum from the fill spout. Just a slow drip (about 1 drop every 5 seconds). There is about 2 inches of water in the tub. How do I stop this leak?

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
(pre-typed to cover hot and/or cold!)

This is symptomatic of a malfunctioning (not closing completely) water control valve

With power off, if it is hot AND cold fill, turn one or the other off and see which one is causing the problem. Sorry but it needs replacing and a service call ;-0(
If it's cold fill only it's clear which one!!
If is only happens when there is power on it could be the PCB malfunctioning and will require checking by the service call.

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

After wash cycle is finished I lift the tub lid and water is dripping into tub.

You may be looking at residual water dripping down from the rim. If the drip is located near where the water fills from, then you may have a water valve (could be either hot or cold side) that is not able to close completely. The valves are typically replaced, but sometimes cleaning can help for short term. Consult your user manual for removal / replacement instructions.

Water drips into the tub from the inlet

Good day,
If water constantly runs or drips into the tub, even if the machine is off, then the water valve in the back of the machine, has one of the seals failing, and the water valve needs to be replaced.

Ken: maytag washer constantly dripping cold water in tub

Pull the hose and clamps off the cold water inlet valve inside the machine and check for debris buildup. If there's debris from the water line, it may keep the valve from closing all the way.

Water drip

There is a water fill valve that allows water in, mixes cold and hot water or shuts it off. Its location is where the hot and cold water hoses connect to the washer.
Get the model number off the machine and go to the web site below and you can see the valve and also the cost of the valve should you choose to fix it.

Good luck, let me know.

Cold water will not stop filling during rinse

while the unit is filling in the warm cycle. reach behind and shut off the hot water tap.I bet the water flow stops filling, if so, you would need to change the inlet valve on the machine. You see, in warm, if the cold is not filling, you still hear the hot filling and the unit will advance. The rinse cycles are mostly "cold" only. if the valve is not opening it will not allow it to advance from the rinse section on the board.

Good luck!

Water Dripping

you need a new fill valve, even if you ulplug the washer does it still drip? If yes then you do need a new fill valve. Just turn water off at the wall so your machine don't overfill.

LSR8233JQ washer water drips into tub from fill port

Yes the fill valve has been damaged by the silt. If you remove the hoses from the valve you will probably notice that there is either one or both steel screens missing from valve body. You cant remove the screens if they get clogged.
