We're having the same problem. The door randomly opens, which stops the machine in the middle of a drying cycle. It doesn't seem to be related to the size of the load.

check you lint filter and exhaust hose. The door automatically opens when the unit gets too hot

I've had the problem since I bought the dryer around 5 years ago. I have to keep cleaning the vent (outside) every six to eight weeks in a house of two people. It's excessive. I have the same dryer in another house and have never had to clean the vent in 10 years.

I have the same problem with the same model Miele dryer, t1526. The door opens in the middle of a drying cycle. Has anyone found a solution to this problem? Thanks.

I have the same problem with the same Miele t1526 dryer. In the middle of a drying cycle the door opens. It happens more frequently on the hotter settings like for cottons extra dry.

I checked my exhaust vent pipe and the vent area in the dryer and the vent flap outside and there are no clogs and the flap opens when the dryer is on. I keep the lint screen clean.

This seems to be a problem with this model. Is there anyone that reads this forum that works on Miele dryers that might know what is causing this problem and how to fix it? Any new ideas other than the ones I've already tried that I've mentioned above?

    Thanks

UPDATE: I took apart the vent connection tee (that allows you the option to connect the external vent pipe to the back or side of the dryer) and found it was disconnected from the internal vent pipe inside the bottom of the dryer (which allowed lint and hummidity to escape into the dryer. I reconnected the pipe to the tee and tried the dryer again, but the dryer door popped open again. It seems like the pipe was made a little short so it can become disconnected pretty easily and it is difficult to reconnect.

I called Miele they told me they have never heard of the door popping open problem with the t1526. I told them that is strange since there are about six people that have posted the same problem on FixYa.com since June of 2008. Miele said that six people with the same problem doesn't mean that this model has a problem. So I asked if he had any ideas what I should do? He said to take the top of the dryer off and try vacuuming any lint inside of the dryer.

I took the top of the dryer off and vacuumed a small amount of lint inside and I vacuumed the holes where I believe the sensors are on the drum. I also took off the bottom front grill and vacuumed the inside bottom of the dryer and I cleaned the grill. Then, I took off the vent housing inside of the door and cleaned it completely.

I restarted the dryer and the door popped again, but it seemed it went further into the drying cycle than before I cleaned the dryer.

If anyone has any ideas about how to fix this problem or if you have a solution to the problem, please post it on this page and I'll be happy to try it.

I'll be calling Miele again after this weekend and I'll post another update letting you know what I find out.

I have the ventless 1526 dryer and the same problem - the door keeps popping open before the clothes are dry. What a nuisance!

Open the back of your dryer and clean out all the dirt. Ours had an old rubber glove reducing the air flow which we removed. We closed the cover on the back of the dryer and have operated more than six months without incident. We lived with this problem for two years before we cleaned 'er up! Now, all is well with my soul.

SOURCE: Miele 1570C washer/dryer. The dryer

There is a door catch on the body. Try spreading it out. put a slotted screw driver in it and open the catch just a bit. If that doesn't work, then you need to get a catch assembly. It's less than $10 and takes 5 minutes to put in. good luck :)

My 9800 keeps on turning on and off after cycle

That is normal. It is an anti wrinkle feature. it will continue to tumble your clothes with no heat for 30 seconds every few minutes for several hours until you open the door, or it times out. That is why you paid so much for your dryer. It does alot of cool stuff.

Dryer door opens before cycle is finished

The clip on the door is just been used to much, using a small flat head, (if the clip is metal only) you can twist and expand the eye of the clip, if it's plastic and looped you can stick toothpicks and use em as shims to expand the hole. usually the eye has been crimped shut not letting the clamps grab and the wet clothes knock the door open shutting the dryer off. Usually when you got a date or big job promo soon and you were not there to notice the flaw and you find your clothes still soaked ten minutes from the time you were gonna go. LOL

General Electric Heavy Duty Dryer willnot start when start button

WARNING: High Voltage may bzzt you... careful.

Your dryer thinks that it is at the end of a dry cycle.

First thing to do is disconect the dryer from the 220v mains and let it sit for about 10 min.

then, spin the timer four or five times around and then stop it at a TIMED dry cycle, not an automatic cycle. (example: 60 minutes).

Plug unit back into the wall.

SLAM door on unit and press button again...
