Question about Hitachi 50GX20B 50" Rear Projection Television

In protection and wont power up

I have read your post and you call for a 102K/2KV shorted==replace w/102K/3KV at C702. the service manual calls for 330pf +- 10% 500v for C702.

RED light is protect circuit = do not disable !
Look for C702 near flyback transformer - might be hidden in
glue = check it = if shorted, replace 102K / 2KV with 3KV =
Sony part # 1-161-754-00 and replace E994 pico fuse.....T.

Won't power up


C702 102K / 2KV capacitor shorted,located near transformer,

possibly partly covered with glue.Use Sony part # 1-161-754-00

102K / 3KV for replacement. Check E994 pico fuse ( 2 amp ).

Common failure is C702 Capacitor near flyback== 102K/2KV shorted==replace w/102K/3KV generic or Sony part number 1-161-754-00.Also,check E994 open 2 amp pico fuse.

If the symptom is no sound,no pix--blinking LED, then C702 102K/2KV capacitor shorted and E994 pico fuse open might be problem. If so, consider replacing cap w/ 3KV for improved reliability.

No power up


C702 102k 2KV shorted, E994 2 amp fuse open. Replace w/102k 3KV Sony #1-161-754-00. Replace fuse w/AZ00104M or common 2 amp pico fuse. NOTE: bad cap may be covered with "glue".

Only the red light work


Repair usually involves E994 2 amp pico fuse open and C702

capacitor shorted==102K/2KV, replace with Sony part #

1-161-754-00  102K/3KV for durability.Requires chassis pull .

plug it out to reset itself and if that does not work,you will have to call a tech as the tv has a problem in its power supply an its related circuit good luck.
