Question about Washing Machines

Serious leak, please help

After washing a big heavy load, I noticed a puddle of water on the floor and when I start to fill the tub now the water imediately leaks out in a constant, but small, stream out the bottom at the front and the bottom at front right corner. It continues to leak until the tub is empty even when turned off. We turned it on it's side b/c we don't know how to open it and all the tubes seem to be in place. And it did seem as if the water might have come out of the pump due to it being wet. The pump also seems a bit "loose" but that may be normal. I also noticed the center part in the tub that spins can be turned either way easily by hand but I don't remember for sure if it did not before. I'd really like to take a look inside and try to find the problem. Do you have any thoughts on how to open the washer or what the problem might be? Would really appreciate any ideas.

The washer I'm having the problem with is a Whirlpool. Model # GSQ9669LW1 if that makes any difference. It is about 4 years old and I've never had problems with it up till now.

Thank you so much! I will try this later to day when I get a minute and let you know.

Bingo! We never could have figured this out without your help. It actually was the water pump that was leaking when we finally got the case off we could easily see it leaking right out of the front of it. We will order a new one and be much relieved when we get it back together!

    Thanks again!

The problem is the air hose that goes to the pressure switch. If you remove the washer casing, and inspect the wash tub on the right hand side you will see a plastic fitting near the bottom of the tub called the "air dome". There is a small rubber hose that is supposed to be attached to this fitting. This is the pressure switch hose. Sometimes they come loose and fall off. To prevent this from happening again, reattach the hose and place a small zip tie around it at the point where it connects to the air dome. Do not overtighten as it could damage the air dome fitting. Just make it snug.

Another possiblity is a drain pump that has started leaking. It is located in front of the wash tub, however, and usually doesn't leak as seriously as the leak you have. They typically create small stress crack along the seams and develop small leaks when they go bad. The pump is not serviceable and does not come apart. Once bad, they have to be replaced.

If you click on the following link, it explains how to get the washer case off so you can inspect the washer for your leak.

I know the instructions are for replacing the water pump. I posted this just in case the pump is defective. The instructions for removing the washer case still apply.

Check for the air dome hose and let me know if you need further assistance. I hope this helps you.

Water is all over the floor from the washing machine. What could be the problem

water pump, hose or tub.. depends when you noticed water. After it was filled? during draining or filling? Also a clogged drain will cause backwash. Holes in tub from rust will leak out water, water pump cracked can leak water or hoses to drain or to washer not sealed or cracked. Overfill from a faulty fill valve can also do that, but then you'd see lots of water all obver on that one.

I have a 1.5 yr old Fisher Paykel ecosmart washing machine. During the past 2 loads there has been a notable water leak (significant puddling on the floor). I haven't witnessed the problem, but there is...

the play in the tub in normal, it sounds like you have an over sudsing issue, run an empty load with 3 cups of vinager in the tub, set the water temp to hot, cut way down on soap, if you use liquid dont even fill the cup 1/3 of the way, I know this sounds dumb but try it, I have one and this happened to me

Washing Machine Emptying

Sure sounds like a hole or crack in the tub.  Unplug power, shut off water, and disconnect the hoses.  Tilt the washer onto its front and look underneath.  Use a light to inspect the tub bottom and sides for a hole or crack. If it is small enough you might be able to plug it with silicone sealant.

Leaks

The only time I've noticed a puddle on the floor was when I used too much HE detergent. No matter how big the load is, I only fill the cup to the very first line of the cup that comes with the detergent. It's no where near the max level on the detergent reservoir for the machine. Try using less detergent (way less) and see if that fixes the problem. My clothes still get squeaky clean!

Water Leak

Yes all you have to do is take off the front cover of the washer or the back cover, it it usually the front on top load washers. I believe your water pump may be cracked, but am not sure. What you need to do is remove the cover and start your washer and let it fill. Get a flashlight and pay close attention to where the water is leaking from. Then all you have to do is replace the part and your done. Any part dealing with water leaking will not be hard to change.

I have a kenmore washer that is leaking bad underneath in the front making puddles of water. Im constantly keeping towels down everytime I wash a load. Could you please tell me what might be wrong? Thank...

Check the front door boot first. Make sure that there are no tears in it.

Remove the back of the washer, start a fill cycle and observe outer tub sections and hoses for leaks. This is a good place to start.

Check if the hose from the tub to the drain area has come off; refit carefully. This could happen if the tub is unbalanced, happens sometimes.

Another flood. GE washer

The water sound is normal. There is a solution in the top of inner tub for balance. Is it overflowing...as in not stopping the fill cycle? If so check to make sure small hose is still attached to outer tu at bottom left front. This dome that it connects to can become filled with scum and causes the unit to not know that it's full. This causes flooding. You can try removing hose and cleaning out with thin wire. Sometime only fix is to replace outer tub. Again, this is only if overflowing!!
Another possibility is a bad break allowing outer tub to spin in agitation. This throws water up over sides of tub. Monitor unit when agitating to see if outer tub picks up speed and starts to spin. It is normal for it to index.
