IBM X236 server will not power on, the AC light on the back of the server is Dim, the DC light most of the time is off though now and again it will go on and then off 2 or 3 times a second apart from each other when the server will try to come on then go off again (you can hear the fans start then kick off) Dual power supplies.

I agree with paulo2, depends on what is your disk configuration.

lost the 2nd PSU ?
standby power must be present
and BMC heart beat too flashing,
if not the PSU is bad or have shorts in the system.

the BMC is first, we go there read the logs
if BMC is dead we diagnose that reading the HW service manual free.
not having 2nd PSU, is super bad, and is hot swap PSU.

the answer is get the manual from IBM yet and read it.
that is first. otherwise the answer will be HUGE.
also what raid card inside , not the same.
none stated by you, so no answer possible.

my servers all have up to 10 choices on raid cards.

buy dell R170 server, vastly newer and vast taken out of service now. (means cheap to buy) bang for the buck cheap. (your uses relic HDD)

you can use a HDD cloning software for that particular problem.

Silly question, have you ensured that it is a DVD drive on this unit, I believe it is only a CD drive, this can be replace with a standard IDE DVD/CD Unit

Depending on what caused the power outage, you may need to replace the power supply in the server. When outage happen and the power is restore. a power surge can destroy power supplies, especially if not connected to an UPS unit.

Please check how the disks are configured?
If mirrored and second mirror is avaliable you can
replace the disk. (It is the same if the raid5 configured.)
