ASUS M2N-SLI deluxe

When I turn on PSU green LED is on but, when I push the on button on case it comes on for about 2 seconds and turns off. The fans are running.
This is a brand new computor using ASUS EN8600GTS silent/htdp/256m video card also. I also have 5 hard drives 2 500gb,2 80gb and 1 250gb. Any help would be appreciated.

I rechecked all the PSU connections all good. I rechecked all sata connections at both ends and found nothing wrong. Rechecked all fan connections. Could there be a problem with the panel connections? I noticed when the power shuts off and I turn it back on quickly that the time it comes on for is shorter each time. It seems like something is shorting mabe?

    Hey,

I fixed the problem. It was the second ATX plug on the mother board. Stupid mistake (left it unpluged).

    Thanks for the reply.

That single beep is most likely POST. Power on self test. You're board, Asus M2N-E SLI uses an Award bios. The beep error codes can be found at this link: http://www.bioscentral.com/beepcodes/awardbeep.htm
If you are using a single PCI-E card, check that you have the bios set correctly. Shown on page 4.4.6. Do you have you're memory in slot A-1 & A-2? Check that you have PCI-E set for primary display adapter, pg 4.4.4
For windows XP Pro with out SP2, please disale ACPI in you're bios. After SP2 & updates, you can turn it back on. It's realy odd that you're high power PSU did not come with an ATX 4-pin_12v connector for the board. (Needed for CPU).
This is a standard feature for current PSU's. Can you swap the PSU? Considering what devices you are running. You can easely run a 350w PSU? This swap would only be used as a test. Next test, go into the bios & go to Advanced, CPU configuration, check hardware monitor. Stay here a bit & watch temp settings.

Go over these suggestions. Let me know if any one of these suggestions has helped? Can you see the drive in you're bios?

Luck!

I understand how this must be driving you nuts. What I am going to suggest might sound stupid but I have to ask. After your assembly was finished (1st time around) did you check the 4-pin ATX + 12volt connector was correctly & fully inserted into the board? Pg. 2-28 section 6. in your manual? Did you add thermal grease to the CPU. A bad pin on the CPU will give you this symptom. I completly understand if you do not agree with this next part but it is extreamly important you go with it. Take the static bag your board was wrapped in & lay it on a table. Place a piece of foam on the static wrap & place your motherboard on the foam. You can use books instead. Connect your PSU, CPU heatsink & fan, Hd & video card & 1dimm to motherboard. Connect mouse, keyboard & monitor.
Check that PSU is set for 115v (small red slide switch near the off/on toggle switch). Plug in the PSU to outlet.
If the green led on board lights up you have power to board. This is known as a standby led. If it's not on, flip the toggle switch on the PSU to on.
Use a pen to short the power switch. This will turn on the board, no different than you pressing the power button on your case. Goto pg. 2-30 in your manual. Find PWRSW two pins. If the system starts up than somewhere durring install the board was shorted to the case.
