    easiest way to connect is using rca cables.
    Here is the back of your pioneer. Connect tv to OUT on the upper part of the panel at the left. Connect each other device in and out in the indicated socket. For example connect DVD where you read DVD in and DVD out. Output on dvd must plug where you read DVD input on receiver.
    Then you plug your surround system, if you have one in the lower panel at the right side, following the indications. You do not need to use the channels marked monitor .

    See the picture of the backpanel. connect where is written DVR VCR in out at the left, connect out from DVR into in on receiver.

I can't find your TV model to have a look at the manual. Normally you'd use a 3-plug RCA cable (Red, White, Yellow) to connect the audio and video outputs of the DVR to an RCA input on the TV. Then, hoping you have RCA OUTPUTS from the TV, you'd use a 2-plug RCA cable to take an Audio OUT from the TV into one of the receiver's Audio inputs (assuming you want to play TV sound through the receiver.
If you have no RCA inputs on the TV, you can get an RCA to HDMI Converter from Amazon for $10-$15 to convert the output of the DVD player from 3-plug RCA to HDMI, then put that into one of the HDMI inputs on the TV. Likewise, if you have only an OPTICAL audio output from the TV you can get a converter for that -- Optical audio to RCA stereo -- and put that into your receiver as an input.

Power sub woofer is not working on my pioneer vsx-81txv everything is working all the speakers except the power sub connection at the back all i can hear is the hissing sound when i try to connect the sub...
Hissing? How loud? A sub isn't even capable of making high frequency sounds at normal volumes.

The Pioneer manual would tell you how to enable and test the subwoofer output.
Page 17 and the MACCV procedures on Page 33 (auto) or 43 (manual)

Reciever keeps shutting off!
If your reciever is in a tight enclosed space, than it will overheat and shut down to protect itself. Try to get some ventilation to it by either opening the cabinet door, adding a fan, or pulling it completely out of the enclosed space.

Hooking up my Sony HD Tv
Couple of items come to mind.
In the menu of the receiver, is there a way to choose video and RGB?
Set the receiver to SAT
Connect the HD Cable Box to SAT
Check the TV is on Monitor RGB.
Check the input being used by the monitor RGB cables is selected on the TV.
Have a picture? NO, receiver has issues.
Yes? Do this with each input to confirm they work.
You can reset the whole receiver to factory by holding the tone button down and holding the standby button for three seconds. (This clears your speaker setups, too.)

Hooking up surround sound
to get the digital you have to have the digital optical line or the coax rca jack digital audio connection from device to stereo reciever to get the dolby digital surround sound to work , otherwise you can only get a virtual surround sound from the reciever( no dolby digital )

Pioneer VSX-818V-k wont work with PS3 or AT&T U-Verse
That model does not support audio via hdmi. That is the problem.

Connecting a sub-woofer to Pioneer VSX-453 surround reciever
I got the same issue. But, I go ahead hooked it up two banana plugs on teh VCR outlet. It works fine on my Cerwin Vega Sub.

It may be a PROTECT MODE. Check is your other equipment properly connected to receiver.

There is no sound on my powered sub
Since you have a powered sub, the feed to it is a line level signal. If your unit is only 6 months old, it should still be under warranty. Check. If it is under warranty, have it repaired under warranty. Otherwise, update this and we'll dig deeper.

Loud Popping sound in all speakers There is a loud pop in all my speakers after i turn it on and when i turn it off. When turing it on it boots up the display and the pop happens when the speakers become active, regardless of mute, or volume level. the pop is immediate upon turning it off. Once on the system is on the speakers work normally, volume adjusts appopiratly and there is no more popping, until i power off the receiver.
