Re: memory on mx-3215
No, the maximum you can get for this laptop is a 1GB chip. When buying it, make sure its DDR2 SODIMM PC4300. The ram below the yellow box is what's compatible (its about $25 for a 1gb chip anywhere you look)

If you go into the BIOS configuration then the Device boot order and you do not see the USB port in the list, then an USB boot up option is not available. If it is available the move the USB as the first boot device so you can boot up with an USB memory stick.
according to the acer site..
these are usually on one side or the other. the issue here is whether your camera memory stick is same size as their slots. you may need to get an adapter. careful about forcing that mem stick into a slot that's not good to go.
1 x Type I/II PC Card Slot, 1 x SD Card Slot, 1 x Memory Stick Card Slot, Docking Station/Port Replicator, 1 x MMC Card Slot
When memory upgrades don't work, the problem could be incapable memory between RAM modules. Try to use RAM from the same manufacturer, especially the manufacturer of the RAM that was working in the laptop. Use RAM that have the same bus speed specification.
On the bottom of the laptop there are one or two panels, remove the screw securing the panel. The RAM module are behind one of the panels. If the memory module does not fit in the memory slot, then you have the wrong type and you need to purchase the correct memory type.
Your friendly computer shop can advise you on the correct type and speed of the memory module your laptop requires.
There are two different memory modules for that series. You can determine which you need by the chipset for you machine. If you have a Via VN800 Chipset You need the 1024MB-DDR333, 333MHz, PC2700, 200p SODIMM, 2.5v. If you have the NVIDIA nForce 410 Chipset The you need the 1024MB-533MHz DDR2-533 PC2-4200, 200p SODIMM, 1.8v Hope this clears up your problem
