Re boot in safe mode if normal boot is not possible and run CHKDSK/F DO NOT DISABLE ANTIVIRUS!!!!!!
That should sort hard disc errors out then download iobit.com and run the registry utility, that will remove more errors. It is a free ware programme and works very well. Hope that sorts it out for you.
I had a similar problem but I can't recall if it was the same error number as in your message---what I did was used the recovery console and re-wrote my master boot record (MBR) my error was in the MBR causing my computer not to boot up in the first place. Your bootable cd should give you an option to use the recovery console before you reinstall, take it and use "fixmbr" at your dos prompt. XP works like that, but I've never had that problem with vista yet....it's worth a try if vista does the same.
If you try to run XP setup without changing the BIOS SATA setting to
ATA mode, setup will BSOD with an 0X0000007B error. Make sure the SATA
setting in the BIOS is ATA...
you will get this error when you will be booting your system from CD and windows installation will be in first step.
to resolve it, go to BIOS setting-->change BIOS SATA setting to ATA mode--->apply changes-->insert windows CD and restart the system-->press f12--->nd boot from CD....hope u will be able to resolve it.
If you are facing this issue while installing Windows, Most probably there is an issue with the memory card. If you have two memory modules try to use one of the memory modules in each slot at a time. If you have only one memory stick then try to use it one by one on each slot. If you it does not work then probably you might have to replace the memory stick.
This error comes when there is memory issue . Harddisk issue or RAM issue. For that if you have windows recovery disk you need to run disk checking program Most of this error comes becuase of hardddisk error. Boot your computer with windows xp disk then enter in recovery console mode then type in prompt "chkdsk /r" then press "y" then it checks disk andf fix error if found any error on harddisk. then you can boot your windows. Thanks for using fixya. Please rate my solution if it hleps. Pls let me know if you need more assistanse. Many Thanks .

Most likely problem is a physical problem with the hard drive, but could be plenty of other things. Best bet is to back up your information (if possible) and do a fresh windows install, if you continue to get the message after a clean windows install, your hard drive is not stable, and has a problem.
Probably sum system file is deleted from ur system and its showing this problem.
Do u hav a bootable OS CDROM. If yes run it and boot ur PC in command prompt. Then type SFC \SCANNOW(remember there is a blank space between SFC and scannow).
It will then ask u to insert ur OS CDROM and hopefully it will restore all origional file without disturbing ur installed OS.
If this does not solve ur problem then unfortunately u hav to reinstall new OS.
