Question about Creative Labs WebCam Live!

Yellow stripe My webcam seems to work fine except that there is a yellow vertical stripe going through the middle of the screen showing the person i'm talking to...the stripe is translucent, but its very distracting. the weirdest part is that the stripe does not show on the small image of myself, and that it often shows on my friends screen too. Is there something wrong with my camara, the other persons camara or is it the connection?

I have a Logitech Webcam. When I am using the camera I sometimes have a yellow stripe down the middle. How do I stop this stripe appearing. Thanks Barbara

You cam might be broken, or if all else fails, try turning you cam off unplugging it, un installing it, and re installing it on to the computer. That might help.

Yellow stripe on person called on my gigaware webcam

Not sure which messenger you are using. Sending you the Skype & Yahoo setup. Send this to thyem because its at their ebd thats not setup properly.
Also let me know if you need the setup for Windows Live or AOL Messenger.
Also send this to your family and friends so they have there computer setup properly. Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.
Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly. A. Skype Setup:

After downloading and installing Skype (http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download/skype/windows/beta/downloading/) set it up as follows:

  1. Go to Tools, then Options, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  2. Then click on the Video Settings.
  3. The camera if Installed Properly will come up and show a video picture.
  4. Then, on the bottom of the page click on Save.
The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now be able to see and her to you. B. Yahoo Setup:
After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger (http://www.soft32.com/download_30.html ) set it up as follows:
  1. Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
  2. Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
  3. Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  4. Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.
  5. Hope this helps. Bud

Black stripes on screen when using Skype

it may be her internet connection is slower than yours.
when i talk to people in certain countries they complain about my reception but in uk it is fine.
skype and other messengers get better quality when run through a 4m and above internet service.
it may not be your cam at all.

Yellow vertical band at center of incoming video

Looking through a Skype forum thread, there appears to be at least 2 issues. First, for Logitech cam users you can try the following:

- Go to Skype / Tools / Options / Video Settings / Webcam settings / Advanced.
The contents of this window will vary depending on the particular model of camera that you have. If there are options for "Low Light Boost" and "Automatic Gain Control", turn them off. Adjust the manual sliders in the window to get reasonable video quality.

This seems to work for some people.

Then there is the more fundamental issue of Skype driver. Here is the link to the thread (http://forum.skype.com/index.php?showtopic=97038) but the essence is that the older the driver the more likely the issue. Even with the latest driver it is not a guaranteed fix, but many people seem to suggest that downloading the latest drivers works for at least some of the time. Clearly Skype have known about this for a while and are dragging their heels sorting it out.

Hope this helps, T.

FIXED YELLOW LINE DURING SKYPE VIDEO

I found this solution in http://forum.skype.com/index.php?showtopic=105497 - it worked for me.

1 - click "start" and choose the option to "run";
2 - type "dxdiag" and confirm in OK;
3 - a screen will appear with "DirectX Diagnostic Tool";
4 - chooses the "display" tab;
5 - disable the options "DirectDraw Acceleration" and "Direct3D Acceleration"
