Question about Acer Aspire 1642ZWLMi Notebook

Compaq, not Acer! Error msg: "windows\no system 32\confi\system " !

How can I boot up as my Compaq Media Center SR1950NX gives error msg "no windows\system 32\config\system" or similar?

The fix is supposedly to use the factory disc to fix it--BUT COMPAQ DIDN'T GIVE SUCH A DISC. All is on a sector of the HD--and that cannot be accessed until the machine is booted up.

The two-disc fix set made when the machine was new gives only one option: put all back to as from the factory, losing all data!

This is 3d PC that blew up after about 3-4 years of life.

Can I save it?

My nx9600 wont boot up and gives me an error message.

Just to clarify: this is PART "Clarification Request" and PART "Solution" --

Sorry, but more information is needed before your question can be properly addressed. Please post back the exact error message it gives you, and WHEN the error message appears (for example: is it after you see the windows logo? before windows logo appears, but after the BIOS info appears? - where the error occurs in the boot process is very important to determine how to troubleshoot the issue).

You can always write down the exact error message, and do a search on the manufacturer's website, the Microsoft website (or website for whatever OS you may have installed if other than Windows), and most of all, Google - If searching Google, to narrow results to be more relevant, you can include your model number/mfg info in the search string then the error message (or error message #, if one applies).

Post back more info on your issue and error msg, and I will be glad to try and assist you further. Best of luck to you!

Reinstalling

Hard drive has bad sectors on it which is why its giving you that message even though you can go thru the restore. Normally going thru the system cd and then the recovery cd should bring you into windows with the device drivers installed.

Error loading operating system - Windows Xp

If you are attempting to use Recovery and this is happening, Most likely you have a corrupted recovery partition....

If you are attempting to load Windows XP from A CDrom (Externally)
you will need to use an XP Cd that has integrated Sata drivers.. Windows home/pro 32bit does not..

Or Use a Windows Media Center Edition Version

I have a message that says , error message: PXE Media test failure chek cable

PXE or Pixie errors occur when the system tried to boot to the network connection and failed. This error usually occurs when the hard drive fails. If your system does boot to windows and you are just getting the error, then you can change the network card setting in BIOS to turn PXE boot off.
If the error occurs and the system doesn't boot to the hard drive, then the hard drive has most likely failed.

Try removing the jumper from the harddrive, then restart

or

Take the jumper off restart shut down and then put it back on again

or

remove the CMOS battery from system board and boot once after booting shutdown your system and insert the battery back, again start your system and press F1 next time it won't ask you for pressing F1. reset your BIOS after that (time, date, etc.)

Try these one should work.

Please let me know.
