Wide screen monitor distortionDepending upon the screen resolution that has been set inDisplay, the image will be distorted on these large wide screen monitors. Create a large circle image using a draw program such as Paint (hold down theShift key as you create the circle as it will draw a perfect circle). Open Control Panel - Display - Settings tab and adjust the Screen resolutionslider, increase or decrease the screen resolution then bring the circle imageto the front and check the image, if the circle is still distorted then changethe screen resolution and check the circle again until you are satisfied withthe image of the circle. When you are satisfied then click apply.

You need to set the PC video resolution to 1600 x 900 for proper 16:9 wide screen format. But if your pictures that you taken with your camera were not 16:9, IE 4 X 5 then it will be stretched side way to fill the screen.
The problem is that your picture is not of high enough resolution. You need to get a higher resolution picture. There is nothing wrong with the monitor. The picture is distorted because the picture does not contain enough photographic data to scale to the size you are stretching it to. Higher resolution = larger picture without distortion.
Your screen's ratio is oriented to playing wide screen formatted movies. Set your screen resolution to a ratio that's more or less 2 to 1 and you'll have a more realistic depiction of people on photos.
Try adjusting the setting of the video card instead. right click on the desktop and select properties and setting. select the screen resulution that fits your monitor.
Most monitors are plug and play and does not need a driver.
Right click the desktop - select graphic properties - you should have the option to stretch to fit or something like that. This could also be that your resolution doesnt match your monitor. usual wide screen monitor defaults are 1280/1024 or 1400/1068.. have a mess around and alter these - see which one fits.
If your computer does not have a video card that supports the correct
resolutions for the widescreen monitors, then your picture may get
stretched. Much like watching normal tv programs on a an hd set. It
will eitther strech or cut off the picture.
Try different settings in you computer display settings.

This is probably the result of using the wrong display driver. It may even be set for an external monitor. If it was used with an enternal monitor, connect it up to the same one (or something similar) and use the display settings to get the computer to use the LCD as the primary.
