How do I clean it without it ending up like the first one? Should I just rinse it out with water and wipe it dry?

Hi - I just clean mine with hot water (no soap), and dry it with a towel then leave it on the window sill... My problem is that the coffee can taste a bit metallic at times; and i want to know if I should be cleaning it after every time I use it... Suggestions?
