Ge dishwasher problem

Dear Fixya, I have a GE mod GSD 333OCO4WW.The other day I did the dishes and when I opened the door there was chunks of gunk (looks like yellow lard) all over all the dishes and utensils. Where did this come from and what is wrong with the washer? Thanks for any help.

Soap is not disolving because either your water temp. is too low (adjust at water heater).Or your sprayer arms are clogged up.(remove any particals that can be trapped in the holes on your sprayer) THATS IT !! PLEASE LEAVE A RATING !!!!!

I own a GE Profile Trition quietpower III GSD5940F00SS dishwasher. The dishes, particularly the mugs and cups, are not getting clean.

Your sprayer arms may be clogged. You can remove them by loosening the screws holding them in place. Flush them with the sprayer at your sink. If you can SEE residue (parts of paper labels, bone fragments, fruit peel pieces, etc) remove them with a tweezer.Reinstall the spray arms and see if that works.
Three more ideas:
(1) run a cycle without dishes OR detergent and use 1/4 cup of white vinegar instead. This will break down soil and "gunk" and help your dishwasher run more effectively.
(2) use an old toothbrush and clean the underside of the door INSIDE the dishwasher. The door will be open and you just brush the bottom of the open door on the INSIDE of the dishwasher. A lot of "crud" gathers there and can be redeposite on your dishes. We seldom think to check that area.
(3) the pipe that carries water to the upper sprayer arm MUST fit against the outlet in the back of the dishwasher. If it is dislodged or not seated properly, the water won't flow to the upper sprayer arm.
Hope one of these suggestions helps. If it does, please rate my suggestion. Thanks.

GE GSD 4920 digital display not lighting up, but the machine is running. How do I fix this? Ilana

If its actually running through the cycle normally, with all functions as they should then the power board is ok, BUT the display board part # WD21X780 - SIG BRD&HSG**NLA 01/08** is showing as no longer available unfortunately.. if you can find it expect to pay a fair chunk of change for it..
However if you tear the door and console apart you may inspect the display control board and find a very obvious broken wire to the display.. ya just never know.
best of luck, and have fun,

When I open the dishwasher, I can see gunk on either side of the door. When the door is shut, these areas are covered up so of course they remain gunky. What is causing this? How do I get rid of it,...

This is semi normal, worse if people insist on putting food laden dishes in the dishwasher....

Think about how food gets off ...... spraying water, and most particulate matter eventually falls to the pump area, but some makes its way to the door seal area.

This is not a fault, just clean it up and you should be good to go.

GE profile model GSD 4120y70BB the second soap dispensor does not open at the right time. When cycle is done and the door is opened the soap has just ran down. It is like it is opening to late.

Hi

Many dishwashers (but not all) use a BI-metal strip that heats up once power is applied to it. The BI-metal strip bends and allows the soap door spring to open up the dispenser. This bi-metal strip is not given full 120 volts power, the timer "shunts" the power through either the heating element ( most common ) or the motor and this gives the bi-metal strip lower than full power to work and open. Most often the bi-metal strip has lost its ability to bend properly and needs to be replaced. Older GE dishwashers used a mechanical arm driven by the timer to open the dispenser = no electrical bi-metals. Newer (plastic liner) Maytag dishwashers and many newer Whirlpool and Frigidaire dishwashers use a wax motor to open the soap dispenser; this wax motor does receive 120 volts to work. The plunger inside the wax motor slowly moves and pushes the plunger and door open. This is what a wax motor looks like.

Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

Granddughter stood on dishwasher door and now it goes down too far when opening. Spring assembly (pulley type) is FINE...but door goes so far down bottom shelf nearly breaks dishes when pulling out

This happens when people leave the door down, I've seen it many, many times, sometimes the door/hinge assembly can be replaced or even bent back, sometimes it totals out the unit...Good luck !

Door won't open

Call the store where you bought it or the GE repair service, you should be covered under warranty, this should not happen on a new machine.
