Me again i tried the reset and restore you suggested and no luck. everything is working like it should the song shows that it is playing on the screen but no sound. i have tried different earphones and tried playing in the docking station still know sound. any other tips?

A couple of things for you to try. 1. Reset Hold down the 'Menu' and the centre button for at least 10 seconds. You should see the Apple logo & the iPod starts up again
2. Restore
You need to do a 'Restore'. Connect your iPod with the cable that came with it to the USB port on your computer. In iTunes, click and (Restore). This will rebuild all the software on the iPod and restore your songs.

Your ipod might need to be repaired, the apple service assistant is on the bottom.

Might be a loose connection or other failing component I don't think there is no quick fix for this.

I have noticed this happening to my 30 Gig Ipod with some of my music. What I did to fix my problem was replaced the Battery and Restored\Reset and problem went away.

You'll have to reset the internal memory and reload your songs

What happened after you restored the iPod? Did you transfer the songs again and again, they didn't work? If so, your hard drive is probably defective, have you heard it making clicking noises?

restore to factory setting using the software. that could help.

Have you tried holding the select (center) and menu buttons together? This will completely reset your iPod to its factory settings, whereupon you can plug it into your computer and sync your songs back.

I'd recommend restoring the firmware to the latest version as well, even if you had the most current version installed, as this will usually aid with these kinds of software-induced problems.
