There is a door unlock ring on the bottom of the door lock switch
to get access to it remove the bottom panel and look up from the bottom to the door lock switch on the right side of the washer
you will see on the bottom of the door latch switch a ring that kinda looks like a bubble blower ring that kids use to blow soap bubles
pull down on the ring and it should reset the door latch switch
if this does not work then the latch switch will have to be replaced

I was washing beach towels and during the rinse/spin cycle the door popped open on my whirlpool duet ht (model GHW9400PL4). I haven't been able to close the door since it opened before the cycle was...

those have a 2 latch system, sounds like the second latch that engages during the spin cycle never quite completed the safety lock , you could try and jumper the latch to see if that would release it, But it seems the secondary latch wasn't working properly in the first place, even the heaviest loads shouldn't pop the door open,

Whirlpool Duet Sport wont drain.....?

Hi,

Remove any kinks in the drain hose. Ensure that the washer is not sitting on the hose.

Inspect the household drain. Remove clogs, if possible. Call a plumber if you cannot remove the clogs.

Check the drain and make sure there is an air gap between the hose and drain. An air gap is necessary to prevent the drain hose from siphoning water.

Clean the pump filter. Open the pump access door. Turn the pump filter counter-clockwise and remove it. Remove dirt and debris. Replace the filter and close the pump access door.

Rearrange the clothing in the load. An unbalanced load can prevent the washer from spinning or draining.

Allow the washer to cool down for two hours. If the washer overheats, it will stop the motor and cool down before restarting.

Close the door completely. The washer will not operate if the door is not securely closed.

I hope the above helps.

Good luck.

Whirlpool Front Loader Dryer Door will NOT stay closed

I have the same issue with the door popping open. If you push hard on the bottom of the door then it snaps in. I think the bottom latch is broken or misalligned.

Door popped open and now is locked and will not unlock

Sometimes unplugging it for a few minutes will cause it to reset itself. Also, if that doesn't work, when the power is back on, try pressing and holding the power switch for about 30 seconds.

Door popped open during the wash cycle and now will not close

This advice is for Kenmore Elite and Whirlpool Duet model front loading washers. If you experience a problem where the door becomes jammed and will not unlock or open, here's an easy way to gain access inside your washer WITHOUT calling the repairman.

1. Remove the lower panel under the door by loosening the three screws under the bottom edge on the front of the washer. HINT: If you prop up the front feet of the washer with some small blocks of wood, this will make access to the screws much easier.
2. With the screws removed, the lower panel should drop down then come off. If the panel sticks, a light tap on either side will knock it loose.
3. Reach your hand up inside the washer behind the front casing on the right-hand side. This is where the door latch assembly is located.
4. At the bottom of the door latch assembly is a small pull tab. This is the manual release for the door. Pull the tab straight down and the door will come open.

Sometimes these doors will not unlock for whatever reason. If there are no error codes being generated, this could have just been a momentary glitch. If you see "Fdl" "DLE" or "Fdu" error codes, these are usually indications of a failed door latch assembly and will require replacement.

Door won't close now

I can tell you where the door latch release is.

Remove the lower front panel. (there are 3 #20 torx screws on the bottom of it holding it on towards the bottom) Once you have that panel removed, reach up just behind where you see the openings for the door latch. the black square hole and black round hol are all part of a larger door latch mechanisim. At the bottom of this mechanisim (cloest to where your hand will be) there is a "tab hanging off the bottom". Pull on the tab for a manual door release.
Please make sure if you found this solution helkful to make sure you rate it. Best of luck with it and drop me a note if you have any other troubles.
