The heater core is probably bad or became disconnected you will have to take the back off and see if it is disconnected (unplug the cord first) if it is disconnected then there is your problem if not it is more than likely bad and you will probably have to get a new one (heating unit). Hope that helps.

I am having 2 issues. Most importantly, my front load washer/dryer is skipping drying time. I typically wash the clothes then put dryer sheets in and use the dry only on low heat option. It starts...

Your two issues may be related. A combo washer / dryer uses a fine spray of cool water to condense moisture out of the air stream while drying. This water is then pumped down the drain. Cold water is also used to fill the softner dispenser. If the inlet screen on the cold water connection to the machine is restricted, those are two of several things which could show up. Turn cold water valve supplying water to machine off. Unscrew cold water fill hose from machine. Remove screen from inside machine, clean, re-install, re-attach cold water fill hose, turn cold water valve back on and see if performace improved.

How do you dry on this machine? if you dry on the green, does it completely dry?

The automatic preheat and drying cycle kicks in as the final wash spin is under- way. The system employs a condenser dryer in which the hot air used to dry the clothes is channeled into a drum, instead of being released into the great outdoors via a dry vent hose. Cold water is drawn into the drum at the same time. The two mix, and the result is a condensing process.

The chlothes should be dry. there may be a damp feeling to them but otherwise dry. If your machine is not drying then the element could be going bad, or a thermal cutoff. those would be the easyiest fixes.

The BIG drawback is drying. It takes about 90 minutes to dry a load, and the clothes come out very wrinkled. Because the drum is so small, the clothes don't 'toss' in heated air and don't fluff at all. Clothes also come out stiffer than a regular dryer.

If your dryer IS still heating, but your clothes won't dry completely, you may want to check the dryer interior cabinet and/or the entire exhaust ducting from where it exits your dryer to the point where it leaves your home to ensure you have no kinks or clogs. The following link explains many of the common problems that can cause poor drying efficiency and longer dry times:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3578821-dryer_takes_too_long_to_dry

Before assuming you have a problem with the appliance, check your installation to be sure you are providing the dryer with proper exhaust and air flow. A dryer in a clogged state or having improper air flow will not dry efficiently and will cause the heating circuits to actually overheat. Eventually, this can lead to component failures and is the source of many fire hazards. If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

dryer sheets do not cause poblems / they do leave deposits on the filter / wash it now and then ., your problem is probably the valve / the coils get weak and the may start up but after they get warm they stop working and just cold air . if on auto dryer could run all night .. mm

Dryer will not Dry!

A conventional dryer uses 240 volts to heat air, which passes through the tumbling laundry, picking up moisture, which is then vented to the building's exterior.
Your dryer uses 120 volts to warm air, which picks up moisture from the tumbling clothes, which then passes through a vent pipe in the back right corner of the dryer where a cold water spray causes the moisture to condense, run to the drain, and then is pumped out of the washer/dryer combo. There is no exterior vent to the outside of the building. Drying with your dryer will take at least twice as long as with a standard dryer. You can wash large loads, but can only dry small loads, and the clothes will not be as dry when dryer is finished as they will be with a standard dryer.
All that said, to make sure your dryer is performing as well as it can, you might like to take the back cover off and check the elbow at the very left bottom corner (when viewed from behind) to make sure nothing is obstructing the flow of water under the tub to the drain.

Maytag dryer not heating up thus not drying clothes

This is usually a simple heating coil malfunction. The coil may have breaks in it causing it not to work. It could also have something to do with 1 of several heating sensors that may be broken, telling the dryer's heating coil that the dryer is too hot, in effect turning off the heating coil. If your dryer has a round lint filter in the rear of the drum, it was 1 of 2 models of Dependable care dryers produced in the 1970's. If this is the case, i supose it would be up to you whether you want to try and get it repaired or not. If you have one of the more recent models,,, the lint filter is directly behind the door, at the front of the drum. and in this case it would probably be a good idea to get it looked at it as Maytag is a relatively dependable brand.

Water comes into machine when on dryer clothes tak forever to dry

This machine drys by intermittently spraying a mist of cold water into the warm, moisture laden air traveling in the tube at the back right side of the machine. The cooling of that air stream causes moisture to condense and join the added water, which is periodically pumped out the drain. It takes a long time, and the clothes are not as "dry" as you may be use to with a conventional dryer. Never try to dry more than a half tub of laundry. These machines are great if you have small amounts of laundry to do, have limited space, and / or do not have 240 volts, (or a gas supply) and cannot do an outside vent. Don't plan on doing more than two loads per day. (one in AM, one in PM) Please don't bother rating, as anything but a Fix-Ya will lower my score. Thanks.

look at the vent outside and see if it closing or even has a cover this allows cold air inside the dryer and cause it to take longer to dry

Dryer doesn't dry clothes, doesn't start right after Wash

If the machine is brand new, I imagine all you want to do is check you're using the machine correctly before you claim on the warranty. Trouble is, the design of this machine is so weird, and the instructions so poor that it's easy to get it wrong. So far as I can make out from this distance, you need to have all of: Spin Cancel: Out Half Load: In Cold/Cold: In Hot/Cold: Out Cold water supply: Available Drain Hose: Connected .... and as with most condensing dryers, you need to let it run to the end of its cycle - if you take stuff out without running the final 12 minute cooldown period, everything will come out feeling a bit clammy. If those control settings don't help, try a functional faultfinding approach. To dry properly, the machine needs to do four things at once: 1. Tumble the clothes: You can see whether this is happening or not. From your description, it sounds like this is working. If this isn't right, see if changing control settings works, but then for a new machine make a warranty call. 2. Blow hot air over the clothes: You should be able to hear the fan running, and if you open the door, the air which comes out should be quite warm. If this isn't right, see if changing control settings works, but then for a new machine make a warranty call. 3. Condense the moisture out of the circulating air: If this isn't happening, the clothes don't get any dryer - they just get increasingly hot. Before making a warranty claim, all you need to do with this problem is ensure that the supplies and settings are such that cold water (and only cold water) is getting to the condenser. 4. Pump out the condensate: If you've just washed successfully, this is probably going to be working fine. If not, then you'll start to see the drum slowly filling with water. If this happens, check the filter (p12 of the manual), then get the warranty claim going. Welcome follow-on questions or news on how you get on posted as a comment to this query. A.
