If I were you, I would download a program called Malwarebytes and run it on your machine. You may have to go into safemode to run it. Install it and let run, then remove anything it found.

How to enable auto Protect in Symantic anivirus 2006

want to turn on Auto-Protect permanently
1 Start Norton AntiVirus. If Norton AntiVirus is part of Norton SystemWorks or Norton Internet Security, then start that program. 2 Click Options. 3 In the left pane, click Auto-Protect. 4 In the right pane, check Enable Auto-Protect and Start Auto-Protect when Windows starts up (recommended). 5 Under "Select the duration," select Permanently from the drop-down menu. 6 Click OK. 7 Exit Norton AntiVirus. 8 Restart the computer.

Hey,

Seems the protection is turned off, you need to turn it on, if you can't turn it on, may be best to remove and then install the program again to solve the problem,

Thanks,

My auto protect wont stay on, i turn it on and restart my p.c and after a couple of minuets it turns of. and displays "Browsing not safe:auto protect off" at the top of my browser.

try to run your liveupdate then restart your pc. if this still happens, try to download intelligent updater here.

look for the one that is compatible with your norton and after downloading it, run it and then restart your computer. this should fix your problem.
