Hitachi 42PD6600 - Picture Problem when changing AV channel

Hi all,

I have had my TV for 2 years now, so my warrantee has expired. The TV appears to work fine until I change to a different AV channel (to have the xbox on), the colour goes red, to the point where it is pointless to try to use it. Previously, if I just flicked between the AV channels it woud sort itself out, now it wont!!

Anyone got any ideas, or am I best off trying to get it repaired somewhere??

Any help much appreciated.

I have a green line appearing down the middle of the picture any ideas? Is it fiaxable or should I just ditch it?

Hi cdgittins

This problem could be caused by various things. First of all, it could be caused by a faulty cable from the viewing device (DVD Player etc.) or it could be a fault on the TV itself or it could be a fault in the viewing device. To determine where the problem is, change the channel to a different channel that has nothing stored on it so that your screen will appear either blue or it will look like it is receiving static (many black and white dots), if the line is still there then you have a fault with the TV and you will have to take the TV to a repairman who will troubleshoot where the problem is on the circuit board and fix it. You cannot repair the TV yourself because specialized equipment is required to find the fault.

If the line is no longer there, try and replace the cable from the viewing device. If the problem is still there then the viewing device is faulty, then you should purchase a new device or get the other one repaired and this should solve your problem.

Thank you for using FixYa! Have a great day and please remember to rate this solution.

Best regards,

No signal:

Hi,

Did you check the cable connections? They may have become loose or have obtained some dust. I would suggest to disconnect the cables and reconnecting them. The cables could have also malfuntioned.

Black line on middle of screen

Hopefully you still have under warrantee. If not, sorry. This line if memory serves me right is because the tv has 2 picture panels on each side of the TV (they join up together to make one picture). Toshiba did not realize that the panels will start slipping thus creating this fine line from the top of the screen to the bottom. They have revamped the newer models and placed glass to adhere the panels together. Even though my TV was under warrantee I got a new one and have had this one for 1/2 year and now the picture just blew (there is sound but no picture.)
Take your TV back if it is under warrantee.

Hi.

This will sort your problem.

This corruption of the NVM values are likely to have
been caused by the peripheral device connected to
AV1.
Connect that device to AV2 or if AV2 is occupied by
another device, swap AV1 and 2 over.
