I had my ps3 for about 1 year and 5 months. I brought my ps3 to a party and then i brought it bak home later that night...when i was plugging it i made sure that ALL of the plugs are in. When i turned my ps3 on, the right light came on and when i swiped my finger to turn it on all the way it turned green but then it didn't turn on the ps3. After it didn't turn on the green light turned light green and it shutdown....PLEASE HELP ME CUZ I NEEDTO PLAY ONLINE OVER SUMMER ^.^
Try holding the power button on the ps3 for about 10seconds. It should beep as it normally would turning on, carry on holding the button until it restarts. This should restart the ps3 in standard mode and you should be able to play again.

This problem is because your PS3 software has become corrupt. The following steps will cure the problem but you will lose saved games and all other data. Your trophies will not be affected as these are stored by the Playstation Network.
Step 1. Turn your PS3 onto standby (Red light on)
Step 2. Press and hold the power button. It will beep as soon as you press it, beep 5 seconds later then beep once more 5 seconds later and then turn back to standby. Release the power button.
Step 3. Press and hold the power button again. It will beep when you first press it, beep again 5 seconds later and then beep twice quickly. Let go of the power button as soon as you hear these two beeps.
Step 4. The PS3 will start up asking you to plug in a controller with a USB cable and press the PS button. Do this and it will boot into the recovery menu.
Step 5. Choose option 5 (Restore PS3 system). This will re-install the PS3 software and restart the console.
Step 6. When the PS3 restarts you will be asked to enter the time and date and other information. When the setup is complete your PS3 will boot into the home menu normally.
Your PS3 may be overheating. Check the exhaust of the ps3 where the hot air comes out for any excessive dust. If you have a 60GB PS3, you can blow them out by turning off the PS3 by the back switch and then turning it on using the back switch with you finger on the eject button. The PS3 should beep 3 times and your fans should go at full tilt for about 30sec to 1 min.
well i can tell u this. If your having any problems then 1.turn on your ps3
2.hold down the ps3 button until it beeps and turns red 3.then hold it again it should beep twice 4.then a screen will pop up with options 5.choose the one that your having problems with 6.it shouldnt turn off but if it does call the geek squad or get one of those ps3 fixing books.

1. turn on the ps3
2. go to the system option
3. check if your ps3 is connected to a wireless connection
4. If so log in using your account if it doesn't work
5. I recommend sign up for a new account and try that.
if your system is only 5 weeks old PS3 factory warranty covers all defects in materials and workmanship for 1 year from purchase date. there are some inclusions and exclusions which can be accessed at http://www.us.playstation.com/Support/PS3/Warranties
but if you have any implied warranties from the store you purchased it at you should hit them up first to see what they'll do for you
