Question about Sony BRAVIA KDL-40V3000 Television

I cannot get sound out of the TV

I have my system connected to an audio system. Last night I attempted to connect the TV to my Laptop. I got the program running on my TV but i do not have sound coming from it. At one point i did but that was just as i was rebooting my laptop, it was very loud so I turned down the volume on the TV. From that time, I have not had any sound coming from it. I have the proper cables. Even when I turn off my audio system, I cannot get sound from the TV. I have checked all of the user options using my remote.

Please shed some light on this please.
I switched the settings to TV sound, etc.

    HI slayer1,

I checked over my settings as you suggested. I turned my audio system off, went into the TV audio controls, I have my TV speakers turned on and set to be the speakers the sounds should come through, the audio out is set to "fixed"...and yet no sound out of my TV...I am very confused.

I checked out my TV settings as you suggested and this is what I have(and still no sound...I shut off the external audio system before checking and setting my TV settings):
    - TV speakers are set to be on
    - Audio is set to "fixed" mode(I tested the "variable" setting also with no success)
    - TV remote control had the volume set up to be around "60", so plenty of volume to hear the TV speakers should they happen to work

I am not sure what more I can do

Sounds like you have the variable audio out of your tv going to stereo, and variable audio means when you turned the sound down the sound off and then you have no audio. go through tv audio menu, you have fixed out, variable out, also speaker on and off, these need to be set for your application.

My power went of a for about 8 hours last night and when the power was restored everything works except I cannot hear sound on my BT730 sound system while listening to TV through the cable box. I can hear...

Trace the TV audio back to its source - TV or Cable Box most likely. We have no way of knowing which. Substitute in another source to test the input.

If DVD audio works so does the basic HTS.

I have y560 lenova idea pad with TV tuner.i want BIGTV connect to laptop

Hi krahul17,

I see that you want to connect a BigTV to your Y560 Laptop, I can give you a few details on what you can do to conenct a bBig TV to your Laptop.

- Your Y560 has an HDMI port on it and you can use HDMI to connect an LCD TV to your Y560 Laptop.

- In Windows7 lower right side of your task bar you will see the speaker icon right click on it and it will give you options, see below image.

- Click on Playback Devices

- You should see the sound window inside the window you will see a list of audio devices on your system, you should see your HDMI first on the List with a Picture of an LCD TV next possibly will be your speaker which is set as the Default device the last should be Realtek High Definition audio device.

- Right click on the HDMI and select set as Default Device once set as default device your HDMI video and audio should work but if you connected your Laptop to the TV before you changed this settings you will need to restart you Laptop for the changes to take effect on your system and also make sure that the input for your TV is also set to HDMI to make everytihng work.

- And if you will be going back to using you Laptop only you may need to go back to the sound window to set the speakers as your Default device to make the audio come out from your Laptop Speakers.

I hope that this will be of help regarding your concern, have a nica day.

No sound

1. Need to know how is connected, is through a regular cable connection or is HDMI, or other kind of video connection, if the case were the first, look in the remote and check is not in SAP mode, must be the audio properties in Stereo, or mono.

Connect PS3 for playing/viewing blue-ray thru surround sound

I just finished setting up my system last night and was facing similar problems with sound/video from my PS3. The only option I could get working was to have the HDMI cable connected from the PS3 to the TV and then connect the Optical cable to the receiver for sound. I was under the impression that HDMI handles sound and video but for whatever reason the PS3 does not agree.

I have DTS sound and fantastic picture now through my PS3, hope this helps.
