I had the same problem - had to 're-boot' the system to make it connect. See page 17 of the manual. You need to turn it off, hold the on/off button for 5 sec until you see ENTER, then hit enter - you should see CLEARING and CLEARED. Then you have re-set up the system. It was the only way I could connect the sub woofer.

I'm looking to connect a Marantz SR5001 to a Subwoofer, and there is currently no soundcoming through the sub.

On the SR series, you should find the setting for this in the setup menu on your remote. It will be easiest if you have a TV connected for video display. On the remote hit Amp -> Menu -> Speaker Setup -> Manual Setup. This should allow you to set the 'Subwoofer' setting to Yes. The subwoofer will need to be plugged in. If the setting cant be changed, try plugging in the Audassey microphone and run the calibration program which should detect the sub if its plugged in.

What amp/receiver are you using? Have you plugged the sub woofer cable to LFE output on the amp? Are you using the right subwoofer cable? Have you enabled the amp to use the subwoofer?

How do i connect my subwoofer to my home theater

Easy. Your home theatre amp will have a sub or LFE output ( RCA plug ). You simply connect this output to the input ( usually the left side, or use a Y splitter and use left and right inputs, or the LFE input if your sub has it ). Then, you must turn the sub on in your recievers setup menu, and your sub should work.

I have the Subwoofer plugged into the output and have it turned ON but it's still not working!

It only drives a self-powerd sub.

The manual...

Page 17:

Setting the Subwoofer Information

Register whether you have connected a subwoofer or not.

Before you start, remember....

• There is a time limit in doing the following steps. If the setting is canceled before you finish, start from step 1 again.

On the front panel ONLY:

1. Press SETTING repeatedly until "SUBWOOFER" appears on the display.

The display changes to show the current setting.

2. Press CONTROL UP / DOWN to select "YES" or "NO."

• Each time you press the button, the display alternates between "YES" and "NO."

YES: Select this when a subwoofer is connected.

NO: Select this when no subwoofer is used.

Note:

You cannot use SUBWOOFER OUT ON/OFF on the front panel (see page 14) and adjust the subwoofer output level (see below) when "SUBWOOFER" is set to "NO."

Then continue with setting its relative level and other things.

I cant seem to get the sub woofer to put out sound

Hello, are you using the subwoofer output on the receiver?
Did you turn the subwoofer on within the receivers onscreen setup?
this requires going into the menu selecting speaker setup and telling the receiver that you do have a subwoofer connected.

if you have done all this I would try to fist make sure the sub is working. easiest way is to plug a source directly into the rca inputs of the sub and see if it powers up. A CD player or even an ipod with the right connector will work.

if the sub powers on and produces sound then the issue is in the receiver and you will have to play with the setup. Its possible that the output jack is bad, I've had that happen when I pulled on an RCA cable and pulled out the socket but that's rare.

Is the subwoofer set to turn on automaticly when a signal is sensed?
does it have a switch to select high or low level inputs (speaker jacks or RCA connections on the back)

hope that helps
remember start by making sure the sub works then figure out why the receiver isn't sending a signal.

How do I wire the speakers to tuner and then to subwoofer?

depending on the subwoofer you have there are several ways to do this.

If you have an amplified subwoofer and a receiver with a sub out then just run a RCA cable from the sub out to the input on the sub. depending on the sub you may need a Y adapter to provide a signal to both the left and the right input.

if your sub has high level (speaker terminals) for inputs AND outputs you can use speaker wire from the receivers front speaker terminals to the sub and then from the sub to the speakers. You would use this same process if your sub does not have a built in amplifier.

Take note that if you do use the receivers subwoofer output its often necessary to turn that output on using the receivers on screen menu.

Hope that helps

I am trying to hook up a powered sub woofer to a yamaha rx-v461 and i dont know what cables go where on the back of the sub there are two speaker ports and there are two plug ins but each speaker port has...

Your subwoofer probably has both high-power inputs and "normal"low inputs. The first are for receivers, which don't have link-level output for sub, so they are able to take already amplified signal as input.
You need to use link-level input of your sub and connect it to subwoofer-output of your receiver. The output is marked as OUTPUT - Subwoofer and is black-color RCA plug (don't confuse with subwoofer INPUT under MULTI CH INPUT).
Receiver has only mono output for subwoofer. If your sub has stereo input (white/red RCA plugs), connect just the left channel to the receiver, it will still work.
Don't connect anything to the speaker output on the sub, you don't need that.

Want to connect my RCA sub to my yamaha htr-5940 reciever

Subwoofer needs to be enabled through menu on Yamaha. LINE OUT might be turned off or Subwoofer volume set to low or off... (-db level) kinda thing...speaker wires are usually always live etc...

Connect powered subwoofer

  • If your receiver has a dedicated subwoofer line level output, we recommend connecting your subwoofer to this jack. Most receivers will have just one (mono) subwoofer output, while quite a few subs require two inputs. You can use an RCA "Y" adapter cord , which is a cable with one female RCA jack at one end, and two male RCA plugs at the other. Some receivers require menu settings (such as "sub-on" or "front speakers-small") that must be made before the sub output will be active.
