It sounds like a common problem with these units, which is easily fixed...

Open the unit and look at the capacitors on the power supply circuit board, there are probably some bulging or leaking caps on it, just replace them and you should be good to go. You should replace them with a little higher voltage but keep the same micro-farad value. ie: use a 16volt in place of a 12volt.

Radio Shack or any TV Repair shop should have the capacitors you need.
If you cannot find them locally you can buy them online at

You can find the parts by their description and values...

On the mouser site simply search for the capacitor value ie:

for a 1000 MicroFarad 12 Volt Cap the capacitor will be labeled 1000u
12v and you would search for 1000u 12v. This will produce many results
which can be narrowed down easily. I suggest that you get 105 degree
rated caps, so search for, as example: 100u 12v 105 . Any caps of
the correct value will work, however there may be some that are
phisically larger that the room you have, so you can measure the
diameter and height (in mm) and look for the same size. When you
replace the caps be sure to note the polarity and put the new ones in
the same way. There will be a stripe down one side indicating the
Negative terminal. Also be sure to get Radial caps (both leads on
one end) and not Axial (one lead on each end).

    Hope this helps.

Cyberhome Ch- DVD 300

Your advice was very helpful. After two+ months of tooling around and navigating around the menu blind I was on the brink of trashing it.

At first I tried the stop button with a dvd in the player with no success. After taking the dvd out, turning in off/on then pressing the stop button for 20 seconds the screen turned blue as said.

This help saved me a great amount of fustation.

Thank You!

You might want to reset to factory defaults, but there is an error in the manual. In order to reset to factory defaults, turn on (with no disc inside), DO NOT OPEN THE DISC TRAY, just press the stop button on the player for 5 seconds.
