Question about Nikon Digital Cameras

1 Answer

Nikon D300 constant flashing of CF lamp My D300 CF lamphas recently started flashing continiously when the camera is switched on or off. The battery power is completely drained within 12hours, despite having switched the camera off. I have three Compact flash cards that seemed to be working ok without a glitch. I have tried reformatting the cards in the camera but no luck. I hvae the following cards. (SanDisk extreme III 2GB, Lexar Professiional UDMA 300x speed 4GB& 2GB). The camera is still operating fine, with the exception of the light flashing and battery power being drained. Can anyone help please? because if u do a reset properly u can get it fixed easily.

  • dewan nafees ahmed Jun 08, 2008

dont put in the batteries in camera for 24hours.
then after that press the switch ON button with out the batteries.

now put in fully charged batteries.
    now switch ON the camera.

this is done to remove the stored unnecessary charges.

My nikon d300 will not format the SD card....

Hi, Dear
Nikon D300 does not use SD card! It use CF card.
But if you have format problem in camera then I recommend format from a computer using memory card reader. And then put the memory card into camera and try to format! Here it does not, then you should show to your local repair shop and it will cost between $120 to $265 usually. In minor problem case it will be replacement of memory card acceptance unit replacement. But the problem come from main pcb then the estimate will be totally different!
Hope You Luck! A Professional Camera Clinic Guy

CONSTANT FLASHING CF LAMP NIKON D300

Hi,

Am afraid that it is an internal hardware problem. Chances are that the electronic trigger that fires the flash has shorted out and is therefore making the flash work even with the camera off. Since this would involve electronic circuitry and components, use of a DVM and a low wattage soldering iron or even a hot air blower, perhaps your best bet would be to seek the services of a qualified professional. Often even if you can actually open the unit for a look and see of the trigger/flash module, replacement part availability would be a major concern.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

D300 pop up flash button broken

Do you mean that the flash won't pop up? The usual cause is either impact to the flash unit or sticky liquid spillage on the flash causing it to stick down. Unfortunately Nikon stopped selling parts on July 13th so unless you can find parts on Ebay you will need to send the camera to Nikon to repair an impact problem. If the flash button is stuck it may be broken.

Price for nikon d300

D300 can be found scarcely new. It has been replaced with a newer model D300S. The D300S incorporates video and both SD and CF capability for extended uses of writing the photos. One card can be used as backup, or one can be used to write RAW files and the other JPEGs. Some slight changes were added to the menu {active D-lighting}, and the D300S also was give a slight boost to 7FPS. Used D300 on the market go for $900 - $1300 depending on its history.

Don't know which card Nikon coolpix900

Hi there,

I believe the coolpix 900 takes compact flash (CF) I wouldn't worry about getting a particularly good one though just a standard CF card would be sufficient for testing purposes.

hope this helps.

Nikon SD card for D80 / D200/ D300

You should have no trouble using the SDHC cards. SDHC stands for Secure Digital High Capacity. The images should load directly from camera to computer, without the need for any additional hardware.
