Question about Canon PIXMA MP830 All-In-One InkJet Printer
LCD "ERROR UO71 ...more than one ink tank of the following color is installed." In my case, Cyan.
All the following failed to solve the problem: "simply" opening and closing the tray, turning off and on the printer and computer, ...rebooting, restarting, pulling the ink tanks out ..carefully placing them back in, w/ special attention to appropriate spots, ...etc, etc, ...reading the instructions, which is "over-the-top", i.e. ...monumental troubleshooting, for me! Anyway, on and on ...nothing worked!!
I did happen on to this sight FixYa! I read the "best" solution about
"simply opening the main tray and closing it again restarts the ink test after which in most times the problem is solved. If after two tries the error message is still present I remove and replace the related ink cartridges. By now I could remove the error message in each case."
Which did lead me to the issue of "Quality Control" on the ink tank contacts (mentioned by someone else on FixYa).
My SUCCESSFUL SOLUTION;
No formal "thank you's" are necessary.

My large black tank gave the symptoms described. The new
replacement tank continues in the same manner. However now it WILL NOT reset
after repeated attempts. I shall try a third tank and if the malfunction
continues I shall become aggressive withCanon. D.D.
This is not a solution only a further comment. I replaced the Canon with another brand . However before trashing it I tried a third tank. This tank brought the machine back to life and sixty days later it is functioning without problems. My guess would be extremely poor quality control on the circuits on the tanks. Their attempts to maximize profits on the ink has damaged the reliability of the machines. I do not know if it is possible but before replacing this printer check to see if any are available without chip circuitry on the tanks. Good luck D.D.

From time to time my MP830 shows the same problem ... just opening the main tray and closing it again restarts the ink test after which in most times the problem is solved.
If after two tries the error message is still present I remove and replace the related ink cartridges.
By now I could remove the error message in each case
