Toshiba Laptop Cooling Fan

Just purchased a Toshiba Laptop Satellite A215-S5837. The cooling fan keeps turning off and on every 5 seconds. I tried putting something under the corners to keep it off the table to see if that would help and it didn't. Is this normal or do I need to return it?? Any detailed info you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

First thing i would do is update your BIOS in your laptop.

According to the information you supplied, the latest bios is located Here if you are on a 32 bit operating system, or Here if you are on a 64 bit operating system

BIOS updates are particularly good for laptops as they regularly make changes to power consumption, fan speeds etc

check the fans

Turn off the laptop, close the lid, flip it upside down and rest it on a flat surface.

Locate the cooling fan, which is under the vents on the bottom of the laptop.

Spray the compressed air can inside the vents for 5 to 10 seconds.

Change the air direction until all the dust is cleared.

My toshiba laptop model a215-s5837 shuts off randomly. please help

I also have a Toshiba that started doing this. The problem was overheating. Try getting some of the canned compressed air and blowing out the fan and also the vents all the way around the computer. Also make sure the fan intake is unrestricted. I bought an aftermarket stand that has a built in fan that plugs into the USB.. My computer has not shut off once since then. Good Luck.

My toshiba satellite a215-s7422 is overheating i think. it's been shutting off suddenly with no warning and the fan doesn't seem to be blowing like usual...

turn it off turn it over and clean the fan on the bottom. I use a Satellite a25. I have used air to blow out the cooling coils a nunber of times. Toshiba has picuten in the owners manual on how to remove the fan for cleaning. it picks up dust from the work area and does not blow it clear. this cause it to over heat most likely

Fan Keeps Coming On

A lot of recent Toshiba and Vaio computers have had some issues with intermittent fan control issues. Updating the BIOS from the manufacturer's website should solve this problem.

Try unplugging your CPU and wiping any accumulated gunk which may have oxidized there, causing heat buildup. You have, of course, cleaned all the accumulated dust off your fan blades?
