Question about Janome Memory Craft 9000 Computerized Sewing Machine

1 Answer

Error; after checking bobbin threads, press start button

Why does my memory craft 9000 keep stopping after 5-6 seconds of manual stitching culminating in an error message - after checking bobbin threads, press start button? It continues to do this indefinitely.
It has been a good machine for 7 years (or more) enjoying much success with embroidery and normal sewing but wonder if it is wearing out? Has any one else had or overcome this problem.

I am having the same problem with my Janome Memory Craft 9000, get ready to do normal sewing and the machine just hums and I get an error message. I have also checked bobbin threads, upper threading and cleaned any lint accumulated in the machine. My machine is about 9 years old but was service about a year and a half ago.

This is most probably solved by an adjustment to your bobbin thread sensor, and not something for the home handy fellow......especially without a manual.

Be sure that there is no lint build up in or under the bobbin case as a first measure, and give this area a good clean anyway as normal housekeeping.....this will probably make little difference, but may let you finish any urgent job over the weekend.

When was your machine last serviced ?
2 years or more ?
When was your car last serviced ?

Your best solution is to take it to an authorised Janome Service Centre (make sure they have the Service Manual for this model) and make sure to tell them about the bobbin sensor issue so that it can be specifically targeted during a full service.

This MC 9000 was expensive and the top of the range in it's day and deserves good regular care to work to its optimum for many more years.

How to fix bobbin thread on computered memorycraft 9000 sewing machine ?

1)Check that your bobbin does not have a nick in it where the thread can catch and won't feed smoothly.2) make sure the upper and bobbin threads are the same.3) pull out the bobbin case and chect to see if there is a clump of lint.4) make sure the feed dogs are moving the fabric through smoothly, some fabrics can get caught on the dogs and make the bottom thread get loopy.5) check your needle,if it's bent or has a bad tip,it can mess up the stitch.

My stitch length is tiny and will not change

When selecting a stich, there's a button with a triangle with one edge pointing down. There you can select Needle Position and Stitch Length. --PDF manual, page 23

The thread tension has no influence on the stitch length. It just adjusts, where needle thread and bobbin thread 'meet' inside the fabric. A too high tension means, the bobbin thread is pulled trough the fabric and can be seen on the upper (needle) side. A too low tension means, the bobbin thread is not pulled through the fabric and you can see the needle thread on the bobbin side.

Janome 9000

I have a Janome 9000, was sewing and broke needle, replaced and broke another. I didn't have machine threaded, took out bobbin and would sew a little and stop saying thread broke. I took off top plate and started machine again, sew a little and stop saying thread broke. So I took out bobbin case and sewed again and stopped repeating the message. Everything looks OK, bobbin case and top plate. I guess I want to know if the timing could be off or do you think it is the computer part of the machine...Should I take it to the Sewing Machine Shop??
