Are you sure you did not activate "Manual Focus"?
Near the shutter button, there's a "Focus" button. maybe you pressed it accidentally and now you're in "Manual Focus" mode.

If so, press it once more to get "Multipoint" mode back to life...

And read the camera manual. It's a goot place to look for this kind of answers.

Button popped off of my sony cybershot dsch5 need video of how to fix it

Hi!
This is a well known problem with H2 and H5 - the buttons brake. Sorry, they are not fixable, only replacable. You should contact your local Sony service center and ask them if it can be repaired for free or for a half price at least, as it's a factory problem and they know it.
I work in a Sony service center.

Hope this helps!

Hi!
This is a well known problem with H2 and H5. You should ask Sony if they could repair it for at least half price, as it's a factory problem. If not, I can offer you the button or change it for you for a very good price. My e-mail is toms.safranovs@gmail.com

I have a Sony DSC-H5 and the shutter button does not allow me to push it half way -- only all-the-way -- the macro won't focus.

It is a common problem on this model. You need to replace the control assembly to fix the problem. Here is a link to show you how to replace the assembly and where to get the part.

Sony KV-34drc500 not working

From your statement i found that there is a problem in deflection section. And then you didnt mentioned about how many times the red light blinks. Number of blinks gives some information in which section the failure occurs. Please give correct information.

DSC H5 - shutter button problem

Here is a $2 fix to this problem.
It just takes some electrical tape, a small piece of manila paper or similar and one thumbtack.

After the silver shutter button fell off, I tried a thumbtack and found that it did a good job of doing the pre-focus and capturing of the image. I then took a piece of black electrical tape about 3 inches long and in the middle, pasted on a small circle of construction paper or manila folder type of paper slightly bigger than the head of the thumbtack. This piece of cardboard will lie on top of the thumbtack head. This prevents the electrical tape from sticking directly to the thumbtack so that the thumbtack is free to move up and down (and trapped in position) without being stuck to the tape. I then put the electrical tape in position so that the thumbtack is held with its pin stuck into the shutter button.

Works well and doesn't look that bad either since the black tape blends into the body and the thumbtack is not visible.
