Question about Panasonic AG-DVX100B DV Digital Camcorder

Time code problem -- footage disappearing

My AG-DVX100B seems to work great, except when I turn it off with a tape inside. When I turn it back on, the time code shows 00:00:00:00 and starts over -- and the previous footage on that tape is no longer available. When I try to rewind and see what I previously shot, I just get an astericks (Time Code*00:00:00:00) and a blue screen.

HELP, I'm now afraid to turn off the camera for fear of loosing my previous footage. Do I have it set up wrong -- or is the camera malfunctioning?

Menu setting - the time code is simply resetting itself.  If you intend to edit your footage with NLE software this will be a problem, otherwise no issue.

HI, I recently purchased a dvx100b. I hook it up to my computer via a firewire cable. For some reason my computer doesn't seem to communicate with the camera.

Pages 54 to 60 talk about transferring to a digital converter box.Remember this is an analog camcorder that records to a tape, you will need a digital converter to plug into your computer.Computers only work in digital, analog signals are not understood. My converter was only $25.It's Very time consuming downloading to your computer,it's done in real-time.Minute for minute, hour for hour.I've got 50 tapes to convert and it takes forever..............!

Mini DV Tapes are not playing back. Nothing but blue screen when I try to view tape...no time code...nothing. Recently recorded footage plays back fine though?????

If recently recorded plays back ok, and there's no warning about low rf or head clogging problems,it seems to be electronic problem in vtr board, but usually is head problem, which is not so expensive.

No sound when recording

Hi,

Please get your microphone tested, also, you can try testing the recording using external microphone.
It seems that the problem is with microphone contacts or internal loose connections.

Seem to be a minor one, hope it will be resolved with above methods.

Thanks.

HVX200 shot footage - viewing footage on consumer grade camera

You can only view hd footage on hd devices. so if you recorded hd footage onto a tape, you will not be able to view it on a standard def camera, ie the dvx100b. The footage should not be harmed. Now if you are trying to view via p2 card over the firewire, whole new scenario.

How to clean Heads of DVX100B

Hello there! This kind of tape is abrasive and so when it starts to rotate the S-post is not rotating one and the tension gets higher than it use to be with a normal tape. The best solution for this problem is to rotate upper drum slowly by hand carefully and spray towards it a head cleaning spray. Then wait for 15 min.and blow hot air from a hair dryer inside mechanism for 10 seconds ,and by this action no more droplets will stay on the drum surface.Attention when you put the first tape wait for 15 seconds in pause or stop mode and after push REC or PLAY button.

DVX100B has no picture, no output on screen or to my laptop

Try a cleaning tape. It doesn't take much dirt to lose video playback with DV.
