It sounds like the printer power adaptor has failed. You can find them on ebay

Reset 1310

HP PSC 1310 "hard reset" is easiest try:
power on, wait until the power cycle completes. WITHOUT switching off, unplug power cord from printer. Wait approcimately 30 secs, plug back in and power on. This is a "dirty power up" and causes a reset that does NOT reset your settings.

if that fails, try a FACTORY reset:

  1. With the power on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of printer.
  2. Wait 15 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
  4. When the lights begin to blink, press and hold both the On/Resume button (Power ) and the Paper Size button at the same time.
  5. When only the On/Resume button (Power ) is blinking, release both buttons.
  6. Wait until the On/Resume button (Power ). is steady.
Factory reset (settings wiped) is done. Try setting it up again.

if all else fails, here is a guide that may help:

Good luck!

Printer was stuck in "offline" mode, so deleted it

Hi,

This is not Printer or PC USB port issue.

You need to drain the power from PC.

Follow these steps to resolve the issue

1. Disconnect the printer power cord from walljack or surge protector
2. Disconnect the USB cable of printer from PC or vice versa
3. Power off your PC, Disconnect the power cord from wall jack
4. Wait for 5-10 mins
5. Connect the PC power cord and power on the PC and wait till you are able to login to your PC
6. Connect the Printer power cord
7. Connect the USB cable to PC or vice versa you disconnected.

This should resolve the issue.

Just replaced the ink cartridges. Printer keeps telling me to turn it off then on. However, it fails every time I turn it on again.

With the power cord connected and the unit on, disconnect your data cable(s) from the printer (USB, parallel). Press the power button to turn off the unit; wait 15 seconds and then turn the power on again.

Check if the error comes back. If it doesn't, reconnect your data cable(s) one at a time, checking for the error message between adding each connection. If you see the error, replace that cable.

If the error did come back after cycling the power when no data cables were connected, you have to look at your power cable. If the cable has a power module (box that you plug another cord into), make sure that you have the correct one for the printer.

In either case, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer (first) and unplug it from any surge protector or power strip (second). If you have a power module, unplug the cord from that and reconnect. Wait 30 seconds. Plug the cord directly into the wall outlet and then into the back of the printer. Then turn on the printer.

Check for issues. If the printer turns on, you may have overloaded the power strip. If it doesn't turn on, you should check the outlet for problems. Try using an outlet in a different room (preferably a different circuit breaker). (Move the printer and its power cord.) If the printer still doesn't work, replace the power cord or module.

If none of the above works, the printer needs service.

I hope this helps.

C4200 photo smart, will not grab onto the paper to print or copy

disconnect the printer from the pc
disconnect the power cord from the printer as well the outlet
let it sit for roughly 5 mins.
during the power drain... clean the rollers of the printer with a lint free or as close to a lint free cloth.

re connect the power cords then try to print a self test page by pressing and holding cancel and copy black at the same time. if that fails... contact the manufacturer it may need servicing

HP office jet 4315v No power. Yesterday I printed several times. Today there's no power to the printer. I have pressed the off-on button, the printer does not power up.

Might be the power cord, try using a different one. I that doesn't work then you might need to try and plug it in a different outlet.

If that fails, replace the printer.

HP Officejet 6310 scans once but then says scanner failure

hi,

that error message is nothing to do with the software part, it actaully hardware issue try the following,

1) unplug the machine and connect it to wall outlet directly,
2) unplug the power cord from the printer and press and hold ON for 1 min and release the ON button and plug it back..
3) Disconnect the power cord from the product.Press and hold # and 6 while reconnecting the power cord to the product, and then release both buttons and if printer turns off, turn it back ON and wait until it cmopletes its instialization and if still persists, it a hardware failure...............

I had a simalar problem. On the back of the printer where the power cord plugs in it is connected to a power adapter. The adapter was burnt out. the power adapter slides out. Mine was melted easy to see. I ordered one from dell. If you do order one from dell make sure they send you the correct part. They sent me the wrong part the first time. There customer service dept. ha gone way downhill.. Regards Frank
