Thanks! Our Avalanche is our traveling ride and it has the original battery. We take it out , about every two weeks and it has the original battery in it. We were thinking that we should get a new battery soon just to be on the safe side!

Battery light stays on

Sounds like it's a connection issue. First measure the voltage at the battery accross the pos/neg posts. Should be ~ approximately 13.2 volts (2.2volts per cell x 6 cells = 13.2volts). Check the cables - make sure they're tight and right (+ to positive,- to negative). You should not be able to move the cable connectors on the posts - they should be that tight. If the battery is a maintenance battery open the cells and be sure they're correctly filled to the full "ring" - if not full then filling won't resurrect a dying battery, but will give you an idea of health if the voltage measures low. You don't give information as to what region of the nation you live in. That can make a big difference. A battery in central states with average humidity can last 7 years, but the average is around 4. If you live in an arid part of the country the average can be as low as 2 years for the life of a battery. All batteries can fail. Some manufacturers have better reputations than others. If you maintain your battery (check the water level regularly and add DISTILLED water only) you battery will last much longer. Judging from the description you give you battery may have been signalling you that it was about to kick the bucket, but my money would be on a bad connection. If you have another vehicle and no means to test your battery, Walmart will test your battery for free. Good luck

Hhr battery

Its possible the battery has failed. I would take it out and have it bench tested. You can also have it tested in the car at most any auto parts store. 4 years is the average life.

What is the average life of the battery in a 2007 Mercedes C230 ?

Hi

it depends on the weather conditions where the car is kept and the use of the car, if it is used daily and in good climate then it should last 2 to 3 years if it is a modern battery.

My alternator is good & my battery still gets drained

How old is the battery? I learned at Sears while working there in the battery department that the average life of car batteries is about 3 years. So, after that, batteries lose a significant amount of their performance CCA or cold cranking amps, and may have to be replaced on a pro rated basis after that period of time, on average.

I put a diehard platinum battery into my 1997 Cadillac Deville Limousine for about $189.99 plus tax and it has a 4 year replacement warranty due to bettery construction.

However, if you get Walmart's best Maxx battery, they have a 3 year replacement policy and they charge about $79.99. I put that into my 1990 Cadillac Deville.

Good luck on resolving the battery drain problem with a good alternator.

What is the battery life expectancy for the 2006 Buick Lucerne?

Battery life is a very complicated issue, there are TONS of factors. High temperature kills batteries, if the fluid goes low, that kills batteries. If you forget and leave lights on, and the battery goes totally dead, (totally dead, zippo, not anything) that kills batteries.

Alternator diodes that fail kills batteries. So 4 to 8 years is typical life IN ABSENCE of the above types of issues. My favorite battery is Interstate. They just work really well. Costco has great battery prices, bumpy for service... Really Dislike Sears die easy.

What kind of battery is needed for this vehicle. F-150

Usually all fords use group 65 batteries. There are also group 58's but usually those are used in passenger vehicles. What you need is a group 65. Brand is up to you. Remember one thing, the average life span of a battery regardless of the brand is about 4 yrs. So having a good waranty and an ok brand is better than purchasing a well known brand with a bad warranty.. Good luck

Loud clicking noise in 2004 F-150. Will not turn over or start up. Lights, radio, etc still works

Most likely problem is a low battery. Clicking noise is starter trying to engage.

Starter cranks slow

By your description I would say BATTERY. Don't know how old the battery is. The average life of a battery is about 3 years, sometimes less, sometimes more.
