First step is to restart the router, power off then on.
That will restart the DHCP server on the Router.

If the above fails, check below.

Make sure you are getting a IP address from the router.
- Start - Run - cmd - ipconfig
If not check that the DHCP service is running.
- Start - Run - services.msc
If you find that dhcp is working a your have a vaild ip address 192.168.1.2 or 192.168.2.2 something thing like this,
then go to cmd again, and try to PING the default gateway.

Hope this info helps.

Best of Luck.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I have a Zoo asdl x5 modem that requires me to reset it 6 to 8 times a day. Is there anything I can do to prevent this?

Hi there,

there are a couple of things you could try otherwise I would try replacing the router.

Firstly I would check that your cables to and from the router arn't too close to any mains electrical wiring or "electronically noisy" equipment, worst offenders bring items which have motors in them. These, or the mains cables, could be intruducing interference and static into your routers cabling. (I believe it to be this static that is causing your router to need the constant resetting.) If these cables need to cross paths, then try to make the paths to be as close to 90 degrees as possible.

the other thing that may help would be to talk to your phone or internet service provider. (which ever one you pay the line rental to) In some cases I have heard of, you can get your phone lines checked for anything causing problems and to cure any static build up which is out of your control.

Hope this has been helpful.

My zoom adsl x5 modem/router will not let me go wireless

What is the Operating system on the laptop ?
If it is XP then in the bottom right hand corner you will find Wireless network connection ( looks like 1 computer monitor). Use that icon to connect to the wireless network.
If it is windows Vista, then in the bottom right hand corner you will find 2 computer monitor icon. Use that icon to connect to the wireless network.
If it is Windows 98/ME/2000 then use the adapter utility to connect to the wireless network.
For MAC you will see the AIRPORT icon at the top.

Check the wireless settings of the router first . Make sure that yopu have all the wireless settings of the router. If you are not sure about the settings, then open the router set up and check the settings.

Not recognized by cable modem

Turn everything off for 2 minutes, cable modem, router and pc.

Turn on modem and wait 2 minutes for the modem to sync to TW.
Turn on router after 2 mins and wait until the router syncs with the modem.
Turn on PC
It sounds like your router lost its connection to the cable modem, which happens from time to time. TW will not help with your router. I worked for a cable co and the router and modem losing sync was the at least 70% of the calls. FYI cable doesn't use DSL,just the phone co.

Have you tried configuring the ADSL modem router for the internet connection?
Its possible that since you have changed the ADSL modem router, you may have to configure the ADSL modem router for it to work fine. The configuration depends on what Internet provider you have but you may try these steps for now:

1. Make sure the connections are correct. Connect the computer to the LAN port and the ADSL line to the port assigned for that behind the device.
2. Launch an Internet browser and access http://10.0.0.2 and press enter. If a dialog box appears, set the user name as admin and password as zoomadsl and press enter.
3. On the basic setup page of the ADSL router, set the appropriate encapsulation and other settings based on the settings of your provider. If you do not know the settings for your provider, there is a table specified on the user guide for the ADSL router. Here is the link: http://zoom.com/documentation/adsl/5590_UserGuide_EngD.pdf
