Some boilers must maintain temperature for proper operation. Not sure what a DU145 is?! Give us a brand name and a model number and any additional information you can such as thermostat setting, Aquastat setting (if you can) etc...

Combi boiler will not fire up on heating or hot water. pressure gauge reads approx 2.1 bar red light lit on panel

Hello
The water pressure should be 15 to 12 psi.If your at 2.1 there is a problem with your auto fill valve.

Which means the boiler is shut down on low water.

The auto fill valve is connected to your incoming cold water from the home, shut it off and check the screen inside for dirt or rust, you may need to have another one installed.

I have a vulcan continental boiler , heating system , and its not fireing up , i think there is air in the system , whats the best way in to bleeding it out ?

Air in what system?--
The Circulating 'Hot' water?-- or in the fuel? (What kind of fuel?)

Normally a hot water boiler will fire, as long as ther is water in the boiler,
So-- are you suspecting there is Low water in the boiler?
Can yo hear the water circulating thru the water pump?-- is the water pump running?

Tell us more about what happens when you first give it a call for heat?
Do any fans or valve try to start?-- any indicator lights?

Tell us some of the obvious things, and maybe there is a clue in something you tell us or observe.

The boiler does not fire when hot water is selected although the red light is on. However the boiler fires ok when central heating is switched on and this does then heat the water. Is the problem in the...

Hi. and you are correct, if the boiler fires when the controller is set for central heating to come on, but does not fire when calling for hot water, the controller is either faulty, or not programmed properly. This is what tells the boiler to do on command, so, this is all that it could be.If you no anything about this controller as far as how it is set up, is it a programmable one, voltage on it, does it have wiring terminals on it that are labeled and can you get to them? If you can, and the wires are labeled, you can jumper them out to see if you can bypass the circuitry and get it to fire up on a call for hot water. This is the way to test it, very easy. You have to look at the wiring schematics to find the wires that are 1-hot and 2- hot water control. Jump across the 2 wires and if it fires, the controller is faulty. Careful if this is a high voltage controller as 120/208/230 volt. Check this out first. It can still be done, you just have to be careful not to ground yourself out. It maybe 24 volts. If it is higher voltage, you can kill power and get a insulated lead/jumper wire with clips on each end. Clip them to the terminals you want to jump out and turn on power. This way you are not touching anything. Please let me know the outcome on this and please when rating me as being helpful to you, be kind. I thank you. I will be here if you have more questions or need my help.

When you turn hot tap on nothing happens to the boiler just cold water out of tap when heating switched on pump starts but does not ignite

I think you are working on a RV water heater.
Check the reset on the unit and turn your beakers off and on.
If you are working on a gas water heater is the pilot lit.
If you can get us a little more INFO we can help you better.

If there is a hi-limit switch, maybe it's open, reset the switch, and monitor the temperature, if the temp. increases over the set temp. replace stat, and clean lime off from the tank, if does not have a filtering system

it seams the valve that senses water flow is not operating properly, causing the boiler to keep heating the water when it has nowhere to go,i,e the taps turned off, thus boiling the water.

Powermax boiler 155, when boiler reaches operating temperature the presure relief vale blow's off at 3 bar, when it cools down the presure go's down too, right down to zero needing a water top up before a...

Sounds likes you have a hot water system. Some where you have an expanion tank that is full of water and it should be half full. It will a round tank above the boiler and may even have a site glass on the end off it. It will have a special valve on it to lower the water level in the tank. The tank is to absorb the expanding water as it gets hot, and releases it when it cools down therefore preventing your relief valve from popping off.
