The oven, when not using the fan, is not heating. However, when using the fan, both oven and fan work normally. Since, I understand, both oven and fan-oven use the same heating element, this would suggest to me a problem with the selector control at the front panel. Could I request your advice on the problem please?

TUTORIALS1, If the Belling fan motorin the back of the oven is going round and
the temperature light is on (normally little red light), but there is no heat
then you will probably need a new oven element, these are generally very easy
to fit and readily available from our website these can be tested with a
electric meter. To gain access to the BELLINGelement you will
have to remove the back plate from inside the oven. Once removed you will see
the fan and element, if you
look closely at the elementyou will
probably see a small hole burnt in it where it has blown. Sometimes however
there is no evidence of a fault but the elementis open circuit ie:
broken inside the element casing, either way it will need replacing. Some
elements will are fixed from inside the oven and some are held in place by nuts
from the rear of the machine. 2, If your BELLING fan
oven is getting warm but takes a very long time to cook or is burning the food
more on one side than the other, then you need to check if your oven fan motoris working you will
see the blade turning fast if it is ok. if the element is heating but the fan motoris not blowing the heat into the oven then
you need To replace the oven fan motoris a little more
expensive and a bit more involved. 3. If you have the opposite problem ie: your oven is over heating
and burning everything then you will need to replace your BELLING oven thermostat 4, A quite common and easily overlooked answer is if your BELLING oven is not working at all ie:
no heat and no fan then the chances are that someone has put the oven timerinto AUTO mode,
simply put oven back to MANUAL mode and all should be working again.
99% of the time the problem will be a faulty element or burnt off wire at the element terminal. Best way is to pull the back cover off the oven and check the terminal connections. If these are okay put a set of test lamps across the terminals and you should have 240 volts. If you have 240 volts this tells you that the wiring is okay and the element is faulty. When you turn the oven setting to fan forced selection the power is delivered to the fan forced fan motor and the oven element at the same time. I am not familiar with this exact oven but most fan forced ovens have two fans. There is the fan at the back of the oven that comes on with the oven element and then the extractor fan in the cavity of the oven, which you cannot see but can hear. I trust you are talking about the fan forced oven fan which is generally at the back of the oven.
Here are the 3 main faults to look for in your oven or cooker that is not heating
Your oven will not work until the clock/timer has been re-set after replacing an oven element or tripping the electrical supply. Consult your Zanussi manual.
If you're Oven is not getting hot or heating up it could be a faulty element, if the fan in the oven is running and the thermostat light is on, this will lead us to believe that the element has gone faulty. With grills the thermostat light should come on there should be heat, if not then this could be the grill element or the thermostat.
When you turn the oven on, the household electrical supply trips on the Rcd (this is the earth trip in the fuse board sometimes called the breaker tripping) your fan oven element has gone to earth and needs replacing.
Hi, If your electric oven is not heating then you probably have a bad heating element in your oven. This is not that hard to fix yourself... Check out this tip that I wrote about the Oven not heating problem..
If the oven isn't working it is either the oven thermostat or the element. If the light and fan comes on to show it's heating but no heat appears, check the fan oven element on the back wall behind the panel. Usually 4 screws.
I had same problem. Replaced fan motor, really easy, but still would not turn. Got my brother inlaw to check it. Turns out it was the thermostat. He gave the connections a cleanup with sand paper, like you do car spark plugs. Works great,
