This seems cut and dried, but when it actually happens, it seems impossible to simply presume that the CPU is at fault. Sure, a faulty CPU will prevent a computer from starting up, but couldn't there be other causes? Yes. When a computer refuses to start but the power light illuminates, the main culprit is usually the PC's PSU (power supply unit). If you haven't made any recent upgrades to your computer, try replacing the PSU. Consult the PC or motherboard manual to make sure the new power supply is appropriate for your system. If the problem occurs after making an upgrade (such as replacing the CPU), consult the PC or motherboard manual and determine whether the PSU is properly connected and set at the correct voltage. If these solutions don't work, try replacing the PSU.

No signal when i used vga monitor connector to pc, no problem in dvi

Michael,
I have both ASUS and LG monitors with multiple input choices. On both, when the monitor is turned on, it remembers the last input source. Both monitors (and presumably yours, as well) have an INPUT selection in their SETUP MENU.
So, I'm suggesting you search your monitor for an INPUT selection option, then choose "VGA" rather than DVI / HDMI / AV / COMPONENT / CABLE / ANTENNA, etc.
Hope this helps.

How do I fix the error no vga input signal no dvi input signal monitor going to sleep

Check if you VGA is properly settled in the PCI slot. Try to take it out, clean the slot for dust.
If that doesn't help, it is well possible that you VGA is not working any more.

HP w2207 no vga input signal, no dvi input signal monitor goes to sleep

There is no signal coming from your PC.
excuse some of the solutions as sounding dumb, but we have to explore all possibilities.

Check the power cable going into the computer
Check the power input disconnect switch on the back of the power supply and make sure it is on
If the pc is plugged into a power bar, make sure it is turned on and the breaker isn't tripped
press power on the PC and make sure the lights are coming on.

now for the solutions that may actually help.

disconnect the power from the PC
if the video is on a card, remove and re-seat the video card
hook the power back up, connect the monitor and try again.

the CMOS on the computer may need to be reset.
I hate totally clearing the CMOS, so what I usually do is remove 1 stick of ram and power up. If the system is alive again, power down, put the RAM back in and power back up.
If that doesn't work, turn the system off, put the CMOS jumper to the CLEAR position for 15 seconds, put it back to the Normal position and then power back up.

Basically, if the monitor works on your friends system but not on yours, the the problem is your system, not the monitor (assuming it isn't working fine til it gets into windows...if that's the problem, you have a driver or configuration problem)

That more than likely means the video (graphics) card inside the computer is bad. The monitor seems to be ok if it is displaying No Input Signal. Isolate the problem by connecting another monitor to the computer. Borrow a monitor from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and connect it t the computer. If the Borrowed Monitor displays the No Input Signal then your video card inside the computer is bad. If the Borrowed Monitor works and displays your desktop icons, then your original monitor is bad and the video card is ok.
