Hi,

to restore OS (factory), there are 2 ways.
1. If you already create recovery disk, you can boot from disk and follow step by step.
2. I hope you haven't deleted the recovery partition in your hdd. If you haven't, Boot your computer, before it go to windows, press Alt+F10. it will go to recovery menu, this will wipe out your C drive.

otherway:
you can order recovery cd from acer, but they will charge you (i don't know how much).

I mistakenly hit 'restore factory settings' on my Acer Laptop. How do I recover my stored data?

Hello,

When logged onto Windows, try to do a system restore. Restore to a date prior to the factory setting restoration if available. This should revert your computer back to the state it was on this date.

Note that you will lose all programs installed after this date.

Hope this helps you.

Hello
You can try 2 things
Restore factory settings(if you had a 2nd partition,it depends on laptop some have special restore partitions on the hard drive.
Usually you press alt+F10,F10,F11 or F12 after powering on the laptop, and it goes into a restore
program that wipes your drive clean and returns the laptop back to the way it was
when you first purchased it.
Note all your programs and data will be WIPED clean if you restore the computer.

Or try to repair your windows like this

1st option
Place the installation disc in the drive.
Restart the system.
When the prompt appears on the screen, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc.

*Note: If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or DVD, check the information that came with your computer. You may need to change your computer's BIOS settings.

Choose your language settings, and then click Next.

Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.

2nd option
On the System Recovery Options menu, click a tool to open it.
You will have Startup Repair and System Restore. Depending on the version you have, you may also have Complete PC Backup that you can use to restore from a backup.

Restore back to factory settings

Hi,
If the laptop didn't come with restore CD's then chances are that there is a hidden recovery partition on the hard drive that you need to access to recover it back to factory state.
Restart the PC and press ALT+F10 to get into the recovery mode and restore the laptop, you can also try empowering technology, eRecovery software to restore the machine.

Good luck

Acer laptop restore factory settings?

If windows is running you can start it by going to Programs, Acer Empowering Technology and run the Acer eRecovery Management. Note that on the bottom of the eRecovery Management window are 3 choices, Backup, Burn Disk and Restore. Click on Restore. Here you have the choice of select Restore System to Factory Default.

If windows is not working but the system boots -
Reboot the system and when the Acer logo appears, hold down the ALT key and press F10. This starts the recovery process, just follow the instructions.
