Power Pointe Presentation

We are getting married next weekend and we have a huge problem!!!! We made a power point presentation and burned it to a cd. It will not pull up at all . We have made 3 cds now. We even deleted many pics. we currently have 200 pics on a CD-R disc. everytime we try it on the compute at the reception, or anywhere else for that matter, it takes forever, then we get all kinds of messages. any suggestions??? We need help badly, and quick!

Hello. Our file is 326MB. Yes, I just realized that the reception hall must have the viewer inorder to open it. However, when we were there, we tried someone elses slideshow (in powerpointe) and she put the cd in and it started running immediately. What I did last night is saved the file on my desktop, then to my flash drive. It pulls up immediately now on my computer (instead of taking forever to load) I'm not sure if it will work on their computer or not yet. thank you for your help please let me know of any other suggestions. I like your idea of a web page, but have no idea of how to do that or how that works. thanks

I'd be glad to try and help you if you will stick with me through a series of questions where I ask what you are working with and what you have done so far, etc.

First of all, is the master slide file size greater than 640 MBs including the images, or is the master file and the sum total of your images greater than or equal to 640 MBs?

Please don't take this next question the wrong way but it must be asked. Are you aware that to view a power point presentation a person needs to have software onboard that can open and play power point files?

Have you tried saving your project as a web page?

The CDROM or DVDROM on the computer at your reception hall may just be sluggish to spin up and open the file in the associated program. This is in contrast to a pen drive or memory card.

I don't know when your wedding is, but there are companies that will make give away gift items from 512MB pen drives and silk screen what ever you want to say on the face of the pen drive. Costs are somewhere around $10 a piece but don't hold me to that.

If your master file is 326MB there should be room for the power point reader program from Microsoft for those who don't have it on their own computers.

Lastly, when you have the master CD project that includes the PP reader, check of the setting in your burner program to finalize the disc. This will make it pull up faster.

Anything else I can do please comment back and I'll be glad to help.

J wan't to ask how to small the Power point Presentation?

If you want to make a PowerPoint presentation smaller one option is to (this is using PowerPoint2003) but 2007 and 2010 should have similar options, File / Save As then select Tools and Compress Pictures - Change Resolution : Print -> Web/Screen, this will reduce the size of the file considerably if there is graphics in it.

I emailed a power point presentation to myself, opened it, worked on it and when i saved it it closed but now i have no idea where it saved to!

Either find it by start --> search and enter the name you called the presentation. Or by start --> My recent documents Or by opening PowerPoint and go to file and look for recent doc in the file menu.

An alternative workaround to allow you to work on the Powerpoint presentation in the meantime would be to download a copy of OpenOffice. This is a free suite of "office" applications which are all compatible with their Microsoft equivalents. After you've installed OpenOffice you can open your Powerpoint presentation, edit it and save it and the original file format will be preserved. You can find OpenOffice at:
