Question about HP Pavilion DV5234US Notebook Laptop

Can't download pictures from email

I'm trying to download a .jpg file from email. I've tried several ways -- When I click "Download" next to the picture, I get the little window that says, "Do you want to open or save?" If I click open, the window closes and nothing happens. If I click "Save" another window opens for a split second and then closes and nothing happens. If I right click 'Save target as" the same thing happens. If I right click, "Save as" I get an error message saying "Access is denied"

A few things to note: I have Windows Vista and I'm using Internet Explorer.

I've downloaded pictures from email several times before and never had this problem.

I've tried to download from my gmail account and my yahoo account and have the same problem on both accounts.

The Microsoft tech support chat guy told me to use one of their other support people that, of course, costs $59. Ug.

Multimedia audio drivers

There is NO several drivers to try, Bakari

There are ONLY two.........

The bottom two drivers;
Sigmatel - 5.10.5082.0
Conexant -

They are both for WinXP, and are both for either a 32-bit version, or 64-bit version.

XPx86 means it's for an XP 32-bit version
XPx64 means it's for an XP 64-bit version.

The DIFFERENCE here, is whether the Audio chipset is made by Sigmatel, or Conexant.

How to know? Go to Device Manager, and look........

Start > Right-click on My Computer > Left-click on Properties at the bottom of the list.
Left-click on the Hardware tab. Left-click on Device Manager.

Click on the + next to - Sounds, video and game controllers
In the fly-out side menu; do you see Conexant, or Sigmatel?

Using Sigmatel as an example;

Third audio driver file down......Sigmatel - 5.10.5082.0
Click on the blue -> Audio to the Left.
(Or click on the Download arrow all the way to the right)

A small window will come up -

Make SURE there is a GREEN dot in the small circle, to the left of Save File.
IF not; left-click in the empty circle to the left of Save File.
Now go below in the small window, and click on OK.

A small download window will come up.
Allow the file to download ALL the way, then DOUBLE-click right on the file name.
Another small window will come up.
Go to the far Left side, click on - Extract all files.

At the bottom of the next 3 small windows, click on -
Next, Next, and Finish.

(DO NOT change anything! Just click on Next, Next, and Finish)

If you are not asked to restart your computer, do so.
Close all windows, go back to your desktop screen; and restart your computer.
(Start > Turn Off Computer > Restart)

The taskbar is on the bottom of the desktop screen. The Time is in it, for one. So is the Volume icon. It is a Speaker symbol.

If you do not have the Volume icon in your taskbar;

Click on Start > Control Panel > Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices.
On the next window click on - Sounds and Audio Devices.

In the Sounds, and Audio Devices Properties window, go to the middle, and to the subheading - Device volume

Click in the empty square to the left of -
Place volume icon in the taskbar
(Puts a green checkmark in the box)

Now go below to the Right, and click on - Apply
Then go below to the Left, and click on - OK

Theres no audio

1st. go the Device Manager (in case you don't know how--click start, then click control panel, then click on System & Security -- I'm assuming you have Windows Vista or 7)-- and listed will be the Device Manager then click here, click on the triangle arrow next to Sound and it should expand giving you information on the system, right click on this information, then click on properties, then you will see where it say Update driver, click here hoping that Windows will auto download updated version)

If this doesn't work, then right click the sound information again, click on properties, click on driver (at this point sometimes the name and model or version number is displayed then write this information down for later use), if no information is displayed then click on driver page and get the information needed.

With this information go the Acer webpage, then support, then drivers & downloads, then click on sound, try to match the info of your computer once you've done this you can download the driver. Sometimes after downloading the driver you may have to open the driver file and open the .exe file or set up file in it to get it started (hopefully you won't have to do this). Hope this helps.

Toshiba (lap top) satellite M50 has no sound after antivirus scan

Type in the code and click Download File, scroll down a bit... there should be a blue link that says "Direct Link" Click the link. When the box pops up, Click SAVE. Make sure the "CLOSE THIS DIALOG BOX WHEN DOWNLOAD IS COMPLETE" is UNCHECKED. It may say something similar depending on XP or Vista. After the file is done click "OPEN" Afterwards double click the folder "SOUND DRIVERS" and then click a file named "SETUP.EXE" Note: There may be several files saying SETUP, try them all until a box informs you that you are installing the driver. Follow on screen instructions, and then your on your way to having a sound of a time with your Toshiba. If you have more questions please email me @ . Thanks, James

Can,t download or burn photos

Most likey the images have been moved from the orginal location. Try locating them by clicking on the Start Menu...Search...Pictures, Music or Video and check off the "Pictures and Photo's" box. Let the search run and see you can find your pictures. Right click on the white space in the seadch results windows and click on View...Thumbnails if you need to view the pics.

If you hover your mouse over the image it should tell you were the image is located (such as C:\Documents and Settings\(Username)\My Documents\My Pictures\(filename).jpg)
You can then go back to Photoshop open the image by going to that directory.
