I have a phillips gogear 2GB player. its stuck in its switched off mode. it doesnt respond to anything. it doesnt switch on nor does it get detected by the comp. i tried to reset it but in vain. nothing happened. its still switched off. please help.

This could be a hardware issue (requiring repalcement), but try the "soft" fixes first:
Make sure the lock slider is not in lock position, and then try turning the player on again. Connect to the computer, and see if you get any activity. If all else fails, try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

I have just purchased one and have the same problem. It charges with an orange light that doesnt turn green and then goes out when unplugged and then doesnt switch on. Pressed button over and over. Did you resolve yours? If so how?
Your player might hang up. Use a pen tip or other sharp object to insert the RESET hole gently on the side of the player and connect it again to your PC.
If it is still not recognized, your player may be at fault. Try the Philips Device Manager software and repair device with it. Contents will be removed by using the repair function. How to do it is described on the manufacturer's web site here:
This could be the player's connection mode in combination with your synchronization software. If you are using Windows Media Player or Philips Songbird to sync, the player will need to be set for MTP connection mode. Most other software that works with regular flash drives will need the player set for MSC connection mode. Whatever you are using, simply try the other mode.
To change the connection mode, select "PC connection preference" in the Settings menu of the player.

state, the Device Manager will not recognize that your GoGear is plugged
in.If this is the case: Disconnect the
player from the PC, and make sure the mp3 player is turned off. Hold in the
volume + button on the mp3 player, and reconnect the player to your pc while
holding in the volume + button. Continue holding the volume + for 10-15 seconds
until a "Found New Hardware Wizard" pops up. It should recover your

GoGear Firmware Upgrade You
need to get the latest firmware upgrade from the Philips website: 1.
Go to www.philips.com/support 2.
Enter your country/language 3.
Enter your model # SA6045 or whatever 4.
Click on the link for your exact model # (the one w/o the "B" in it) 5.
Click on "Software & Drivers" 6.
Download the updated "Device/Firmware Manager" 7.
Once installed, open the Philips Device Manager 8.
Click on the "Update" tab, then the "Update" button (with
your mp3 player connected to the computer, of course) 9.
Your Mp3 players firmware will update automatically If
you do not have the latest version of the Philips Device Manager installed (the
latest is the version from the Philips website), then clicking the
"Update" button will give you a false positive saying "The
firmware on your device is already up to date." -Tha

i held the volume+ button in while i plugged the usb cable. the computer recognized new hardware was found. i opened the phillips device manager and hit the repair tab. it automatically ran a repair through the mp3. then i installed new firmware through the phillips device manager. i lost all my contents but windows media 11 sync all my music back. THANKS ANYWAY!!!!
