Transferring Video I would like to know how to get my video into a program like windows movie maker once the disc has been finalized. This particular model does not have a fire wire port so I cant transfer directly to my computer with a cable. I wish I knew this before I bought the camera.

Need a jvc gr-d71u driver for windows

Drivers are not neccessary when transferring VIDEO on "GR-D" camcorders. All you need is a firewire cable (4pin to 4pin) or (4pin to 6pin) depending on your computer. Once connected, you can use free DV EDITING SOFTWARE like, Windows Movie Maker or iMovie. USB ports on these cameras are reserved for transferring PICTURES ONLY

I'm using Windows 7 and windows live movie maker to create a movie, but apparently the jvc grd-d347u does not seem to be compatible with it. I can not transfer movies from my device to windows live movie...

My solution is use another movie making program. That's what i did with my camera teh GR DV M 90. I found that the quality was better than the one I got down loading to Windows Me. But your probelm is you can't get them to down load at all, right? I tried Window movie maker, the disk download that came with the camera and finally settled with the program that came with my firewire by ADS technologies Pyro Ditigal Video(this one worked better than any. That's the best I have to offer. It make be driver compatibity and programs conflicting with programs you just have to look for what works best or in your case what works at all.

I believe you have to pull the files from your computer into Movie Maker. Open Windows Movie Maker and use the import feature to get the video files.

How do I transfer the mini DVD to Movie Maker

With your Recorded DVD-R Disc "Finalized", and in the DVD player on your computer, you should be able to browse to your videos with Movie Maker.

In MovieMaker, on the left side where it lists:
Movie Tasks
1. Capture Video
Capture from Video device
Import video . . .

You want to "Import Video", by clicking that and browsing to the DVD-R to find what could be MPG files, or VOB files. They're both MP2 DVD format video and audio files.

Tip: Right Clicking in the Import Video Dialogue Box where the files are listed and selecting View / Thumbnails, will present a view of the scenes in each video.

Movie maker is a great program. But since you re-booted(I'm not sure I know what you mean by that) you should go into the settings and see that the moviemaker settings are the same as they were before.

Mini-DVD playback

http://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/0900000562/DC210NIM-EN.pdf here is the manual look on page 62 for playback on a pc. you need a dvdrom drive. if you have one make sure you have software like windows media player 10 or 11, or powerdvd to play the movie. as for editing the video is a little bit more tricky. you are going to have to "rip" the video and then combine it in a program like windows movie maker with the other dvd that has been ripped too. when you are done editing in windows movie maker just choose avi or dvd type.
