Question about GPX PD808B Portable DVD Player with Screen

1 Answer

D200B DVD player. It's nearly new but two solid green bars have appeared horizontally at top of screen when playing DVD's. One goes all the way across and the other halfway. When I push set-up button, the green fills the entire screen.

This is either a video driver error caused by out of date drivers or trying to display something your computer does not have the capacity for if you meet the min system requirements and your drivers are up to date try displaying other programs to make sure that you find the same lines if after updating drivers you still have lines either the monitor or graphics card has burnt out

Called my son in Seattle and he said to disconnect the cables and reconnect. Did the trick. Thanks anyway. Sometimes the simplest and least expensive solution should be tried first.

Gpx d200b dvd player. Why won't it play certain dvds? It plays all my other movies except for one that I just bought brand new.

The format of your new disc is probably NOT COMPATIBLE with your disc player. Verify through your owners manual & the format of your new disc.

My kids lost the remote to our GPX D200B dvd player. I got a GE universal remote but neither of the GPX 4 digit codes are working. When I try to search I can get it to play but nothing else works. I...

Unfortunately, the only real answer is that GPX is such an uncommon brand that many 'universal' remotes are not compatible with it. Your best bet is to look for a replacement remote for your D200B, but they don't seem to sell replacements. You may have to settle with using buttons on the DVD player itself, or buying a new player.

Dvd's aren't fitting my screen, the sides and top/bottom is being cut of. I've tried the display menu, zoom, and making it widescreen, and it doesn't work.

Are you playing wide-screen movies on a 4x3=1.33:1 (standard=SD) TV? DVD output by default is SD. Even 16x9=1.78:1 (HD) movies with have top and bottom bars. Many "wide-screen" DVDs are squeezed horizontally so that you have to stretch them. Many theatrical releases are up to 2.7:1 or so. Side bars indicate you have the DVD output set for 4x3 and your TV is HD-like. There are usually controls for the screen format on HD TVs--no controls on SD TV. Hey, early movies were 1:1--take them side bars. More on aspect ratio (AR) in Wiki, I bet. With letterbox of SD you can get "pillar box" with black on all 4 side. Get a better source and/or choose a different AR. -Ken

Wavy lines

Are the wavy lines horizontal or vertical? If they are horizontal and up near the top of the screen it could be 60HZ interference from a power cord running over the cable from the DVD player to the TV. There could also an internal breakdown of the shielding by the power supply of the DVD player. If the lines are vertical it is likely the cable or maybe the input jack on the TV. Could be a number of things.
