Question about Apple iPod nano 3rd Generation

Freezes while restoring!

So i plugged my ipod in this morning, and itunes said it was corrupt, so i had to restore all the facotry settings, but when i tried, it just froze half-way through. so i un-plugged it and now everytime i try to plug it in, it doesn't even show that it's connected to my computer. please helpp ):

It probably didn't restore all the way. You will have to repeat the process again.

If that doesn't work, I would uninstall Itunes and reinstall it. Make sure you restart your computer after doing that.

Sometimes a iPod malfunction occurs that results in the Apple logo freezing on the screen of the iPod. When this happens, toggling the Hold switch or resetting the iPod typically resolves the problem. Battery Allowing the battery to discharge completely may unlock an iPod stuck on the Apple logo. My ipod touch freezes while restoring in itunes. I first upgraded itunes to itune 10. Then I tried to restore. It just freezes 1 minute into the restore. Now what??

I cases where your iPod Touch is freezing, especially during a restore , there could be a variable of issues which may be causing this issue to occur.

If you have previously installed any 3rd party plug-ins for your iTunes prior to your iTunes 10 upgrade, that can potentially affect the functionality of your iTunes with the newer iTunes version 10.

Apple recommends troubleshooting such an issue by first removing those iTunes 3rd party plug-ins as well as the preference files for iTunes.

Not sure what version of operating system you are using, Win7/Vista/XP or Mac OS X, but to help you isolate (and possibly eliminate) these potentially problematic files, here is a complete workthrough process from Apple address several issues including the inability to complete a function such as a restore.

Step One

Open iTunes and connect the iPhone to your Mac.

Step Two
Press and hold the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time.

After exactly 10 seconds release the Sleep/Wake button. Continue holding the home button until you iTunes pops up a message telling you that it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode.

listen in the ipod and if you hear click click click in some pattern
you may need a disk.
But try this anyway:
try and put the ipod in disk mode and find it in my computer.
right click on the ipod drive and format the drive.
then disconnect and put in disk mode again and mount to itunes.
and restore again

ok, well we need to perform the restore.

unplug the ipod. then plug it back in, make sure noting is useing your ipod, no windows into the ipod disk are open or any programs expt itunes is on. (close everything else you dont need expt itunes)

Then try to restore to a new version.

How to restore your iPod:

How to restore iPod
  1. Ensure that you have an active Internet connection as new versions of iTunes and iPod Software may need to be downloaded to your computer.
  2. Download and install the latest version of iTunes if you do not already have it installed.
  3. Open iTunes, and then connect your iPod to your computer using the USB or FireWire cable that came with your iPod.
  4. After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.
  5. Select your iPod in the Source panel and you will see information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes windows.

You will likely need to restore you iPod to its factory configuration. Dock the iPod (or plug in the cable) and let iTunes mount and sync the device. Once finished, there is an option in iTunes to Restore. Run this, follow the directions. After restoring, allow iTunes to re-sync your media to the device.
