Have a friend that picked up a coolermaster motherboard, only thing on it he can find says 1 bit nf7--he wants to know what ram this takes. Thanks

Take out the ram and reseat it. Try again, if you still have the problem, take out half the ram and test it and then switch it around till you find out what ram chips are possibly bad.

Look for labels on the RAM: PC100 or PC133 or DDR266 or DDR333 or DDR400 or PC2100 or PC2700 or PC3200.

Since you cited 'DDR400', you need to purchase 'DDR400' RAM.
Any sales-person in any computer-store can sell you 'DDR400' RAM.

THAT IS THE CODE FOR MEMORY OR MOTHERBOARD ERROR.

TEST YOUR RAM STICKS ONE AT A TIME, UNTIL YOU FIND ONE THAT WORKS. IF IT DOWS NOT WORK WITH ANY SINGLE RAM STICK, THEN YOUR MOTHERBOARD IS THE PROBLEM

Abit NF7-s v2- hynix ram support problem


your system does not support the dual ddr ram unless you have a add-on VGA card

My Abit NF7-S v2.0 only works with one memory module at a time


I have read that there are dual memory controllers (duel channel) and that when you use 2GB like that you are using 1 memory controller for each stick. Maybe one of your memory controllers is bad... maybe popped a cap? Sounds like time for a new MB. See this thread...
