I installed the 403894-001 mbd into an hp pavilion dv4000, and so far none of the realtek ac 97 drivers i have downloaded will work. maybe i keep downloading the wrong one. please help me.

Have you tried using the drivers from the driver CD that came with it. May be you are installing the wrong drivers. Check out for the audio chip number on the board and then install the related driver from the same vendor.

it could be any of the two. problem with your power supply section and mainboard. the reason it shut down repeatedly, is the unstable supply of dc voltage on your laptop. try using another charger/adaptor.if the mainboard is the culprit. you have a serious problem. visit your local service center.

Need to know where to put wires on hp motherboard

The last clarification that you provided with details on the motherboard and type of computer it came from were perfect!

I work on HP computers, laptops and printers everyday - as that is the only model we use at my company. I can surely help you with this one as I am well versed in breaking down and rebuilding computers. I don't know if there are specific wires that you're unsure of, or if you need help installing all of the wires to the board. Hopefully, this will help get you started.

I located a really detailed layout of your motherboard. You will see one black and white, drawn and labeled diagram of the board as well as a color photo of the board that isn't labeled. You will also find specs on the board as well as information about clearing the BIOS settings and/or BIOS password.

Click this link: Motherboard Specifications, MCP61PM-HM (Nettle)
HP's name for this board is also Nettle. It's pretty explanatory and if you try to connect a wire to the wrong connector on the board, more than likely, the pins won't match and it won't fit.

Hope this helps! Feel free to post any additional questions if you have problems installing the board.

Hp sp 323091 001 motherboard manual

The information that you provided is not specific to the motherboard that you have. I'm assuming that your motherboard was manufactured by Intel. You will have more luck if you can find out what company manufactured the board and also the correct model number or name of the board.

However, most motherboard have a series of pins somewhere very close to the edge of the board and, this would be the edge that sits closest to the front panel. Most motherboards that I work with have a series of pins near the edges labeled "Panel". These would be the pins that you will use to connect the power switch, power LED light, HDD LED, etc.

Usually, there are even smaller letters that, if you look closely, label each set of pins for the appropriate connectors. Take a very close look along the edges of your board to see if you can locate these pins or the word "Panel" which would be written just beneath a group of pins on the board. Some boards even go as far as to label the pins for which connector they belong (for example, there will be maybe 2 rows of pins and some connectors will only use one pin, on one row while others may use 2 pins).

Hope this helps (that is if you still have the board or this problem)...

Motherboard installation

Hello mecompe,

If you installed an AGP graphics card before your fist boot of the system, you will not receive display. By default the onboard graphics is set to boot display. (If this is the case, remove the AGP graphics card & boot the system). The Asus P4SGX-MX can only use a 4x AGP 1.5volt (only) card.

There is an order of sequences to perform before installing/ adding an AGP graphics card on to the board when the board also uses an integrated graphics card.
First, shut down the system & unplug the power supply from the PC. Connect your monitor to the VGA port at the rear of the board. Remove the AGP card. Re-connect the power supply & boot the system. You should have display? Re-boot the system. As the system starts up press the delete key on the keyboard every 2 seconds. The bios main menu will load. (Open your manual). Go to
section 2.4.3, page 2-20 under Advanced, PCI configuration. Set Primary VGA bios to
[AGP VGA Card]. Save the bios & exit. The system will auto restart. Press & hold the power on/ off button on the PC case until the system shuts off. Unplug the power cord from the PC. Insert the AGP card into the AGP slot. Connect your monitor to the AGP card.
Check all internal data & power cables, (Incase something came loose). Re-connect the power cord & boot the system. You should have display! Install your video software.
If your using the integrated VGA PCI graphics card, go over the bios settings page 2-18 & 2-20.

Need the Asus manual? Click this link;
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?modelname=P4SGX-MX&SLanguage=en-us

To view the manual you'll also need Adobe PDF reader, click this next link for Adobe.
http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/

(The green led (light), means standby. The board is receiving 5volts DC.

If you still do not have display just let me know.
Good luck mecompe!
Mike

DESKTOP COMPUTER TURN ON PROBLEM

In this case it is normally a voltage regulator near the cpu that is shorted and will need to be replaced.
Remove everything from the board, except the heat sink fan and plug in the big power connector, do not connect the 4 pin connector. Turn the power on as you were before.
Using a multimeter, check the voltages on those regulators. You should find them running in pairs normally, but make sure to check all of them and try to pick the odd one out.
Put your black lead to ground, and use some electrical tape to cover all of the red leads probe except for 2mm at the tip to help prevent shorting out anything else while you are there.

Mother board driver issues

Don't panic. If you take the cover off the side of the computer and look at the motherboard you will find a jumper that says cmos. You can switch the jumper and wait a minute or so then switch it back and it will boot up its defaults. If you cant find the jumper just take the battery out of the motherboard and wait a couple minutes and then put it back in. that will do the same thing and it should boot up fine.

MY MONTOR HAS POWER AND IS NOT WORKING.

Hi, dont loose faith. If you look on your mother board along the edge closest to the front of the case you will see a series of pins, usualy about 10 pins. Printed on the board will be the names of the plugs that match. The wires from the front of the case have corresponding names. The power and reset switch will work no matter witch way around you put them. The HDD led and the pwr led will only work one way so if these lights dont work, just reverce the plugs. If desperate you can bridge two pins together at a time until you get the on/off switch. Note you cant hurt anything unless you use a hammer. Regards mistyman
