Question about Acer Aspire 5600 Series 5630-6951 Laptop

1 Answer

Follow up castatroy, how does someone open up their laptop "in such a way not to void warranty"? - i have no experience at this, but common sense tells me that something is loose vs broken. i'm not terribly concerned about the 1 yr warranty, mainly because it's a hassel to package it and send it in on my dime and wait who knows how long... i would rather get someone who knows what their doing take care of the problem locally than go the Acer route. - the first place i took it to wouldn't even touch it because they can't get acer parts if they need them... what other options does an acer owner have? i live in the Vancouver / Lower Mainland Area.

Does opening vaio laptop loses its warranty

Yes, it will. There will be some tag which will break upon opening. This will void the warranty.

The 3 most popular fixes for the Xbox 360

These are free fixes I found on the internet and tried myself I have rated them as well with my recommendation:

The Towel Trick:

Pros
  • Fast and easy
  • Opening console is not required - does not void warranty
Cons
  • Might make things worse
  • Usually works for 2 weeks only
  • Not recommended to use repeatedly
Recommendation - Do it only if you are not technical and afraid to open the console, use warranty if still permitted.

The Heat Gun Solution:
Pros
  • If done right works for long (longer than the towel trick)
  • Simple to do
Cons
  • Opening console is required - Void Warranty
  • Might make things worse
  • Not recommended to use repeatedly
  • Usually works for a fews weeks only
Recommendation - Its involved voiding warranty and hard to make it a permanent solution, use only if you don't have a warranty.

The Eraser Trick:

Best solution here at Fixya:

The Eraser Trick

Pros

  • If done correctly works permanently
  • Very simple to do
  • Requires only a simple eraser
  • Can used repeatedly
Cons
  • Opening console is required - Void Warranty
  • Usually does not used right and not works permanently
  • Requires some technical knowledge
Recommendation - Read comments on the thread to know what to expect and do it only if you don't have your warranty.

Conclusion
- These fixes are great, but from my experience there is no stable fix for this problem since the Red Ring of Death will come back even if fixed by an expert. Therefore those fixes are good as any but also void the 3 years warranty. If you do have your warranty I recommend on using it.

I recently sanitise my hd and installing ubuntu as my operating system. everything went on fine untill i receive the power on password during boot up which i don't remember enabling it. i'm unable to...

I had to fix this problem a couple years ago, it's common on Compaq's. The only way to fix it is to short out the CMOS battery on the motherboard. Doing this voids your warranty, so if you wish to follow that course I cannot tell you exactly where to go, but google's your friend. The other option you have is to call Compaq and open a ticket with tech support. If your laptop is still under warranty, you may even get a new computer.

My touchpad in my toshiba computer is not working. i purchased my computer two months ago. what should i do

You are still in warrenty, go to Toshiba website and get to customer services. Also - as its under 3 months you could take it to where you purchased it from and they should sort it, dont let them tell you to go to the manufacturer as in the legal sense they have a duty to you as you purchased from them and it's been under 3 months.
DONT open it up or let any technician open it up while its in warrenty, that will void the warrenty.

Disc drives not working

check if its still under warranty and bring it to dell service center, opening the unit will void the warranty, if no more warranty and you have experience pc troubleshooting then try to check the drive connection or try to change new functional drive

The audio output for the external speakers is loose--acer aspire 3680 laptop-

Hey there.

The only solution I am able to give us that because it is a Hard Ware problem, it cannot be fixed without getting hands on. It sounds like it just needs repositioning - because with laptops, after wear and tear and all the bumps and bruises things get loose - so..

I do not recommend you open up your laptop if you have no experience what so ever with doing so. You also void any warranty you have if you do. If you ain't worried about that, then it's a good time to get some self teaching experience. Get the manual for your Laptop, open it up and play around... but.. that's if you don't really care, and want to take some risks. Which most people don't.

I only thing I can suggest is to get a qualified technician - go to your local PC shop, and get them to open it up and reposition it.
But mainly, with something like that, it's not worth the time or money to repair. If you have lots of both, then that's all you can do to fix that.

Hopefully I have been of some assistance!

Plugged in not charging

Is the laptop still under warranty, if so get it repaired under warranty. If you try and fix it yourself you most likely would void your warranty. Power problem are quite common with laptops especially with the power socket on the laptop and the power plug which plugs into the power socket. These problems can be fixed, but I suggest you try to get yours fixed under warranty.

Laptop Warranty Problem....

Usually breaking the seal will void a warranty. This is a question you should address with Acer themselves...Do not break the seal until you have checked with them...

Hope this helps...

Psp Problem

THESE STEPS WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY!!!

You will need:

1 Fairly Small Screw Driver
Something Soft to protect your screen (Optional)
Something sticky to hold your small screws (Optional, but recommended)
Ability to remember where you removed screws from =D

1. Flip your PSP on the front side (screen side).
2. Unscrew the two screws on the outside opposite of the battery.
3. Open the battery panel, and unscrew the screws under the battery.
4. CAREFULLY, take off the faceplate and make sure your L/R buttons are properly secured and clear from dust/dirt.
5. Check the 'Home', 'Start', etc., buttons for anything that may "jam" them.
6. Reassemble your PSP by screwing the screws back into their proper areas.

AGAIN, this will VOID any warranty you have and I AM NOT responsible for any damages to your PSP!!!
