The power supply is not supplying the proper voltages. The power supply supply supplies 5 different voltages. If one of the coils on the transformer goes bad, then the receiver will turn on, and fault when a component does not receive the voltage it needs. This is why it is shutting off.

My Onkyo TX-SR600 shuts off after a few seconds when I turn it on

Hello, I am sorry about your issue. I suggest disconnecting all of the speakers from the receiver and unplugging it for at least one hour. Plug back in and turn on. If it does not stay on it would need to be serviced or traded in. It it stays on turn off and add one speaker and turn on. Follow this process until all speakers are connected. If you are interested in a trade in please contact us at 800-229-1687 option #3. Thank you, Onkyo USA

Onkyo TX-SR 805 flashes message "Test - < - 42" when switched on at power button.

Hello, you seem to be in technician test mode. Unplug the receiver for an hour, turn on and perform a reset by holding vcr/dvr and then on/standby. This should resolve your issue. Thank you, Onkyo USA

My Onkyo TX-SR606 won't turn on

The reference to Zone 2 means that your Onkyo receiver is set to be remotely controlled from another location. Normally, this arrangement would be initiated at the time of set up but could be done later. You may have to repeat the initial set up routine to get things back to normal

No USB.

Anything that has a headphone output can be adapted to feed an RCA cable pair for standard stereo to any audio device with a standard RCA input (except PHONO).

Get a cable like the one described here: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?
c_id=102&cp_id=10218&cs_id=1021804&p_id=665&seq=1&format=2

and connect it into any available analog input EXCEPT "Phono".

Onkyo TX-SV 727 PROTECT mode

Generally, this happens when there's a loose connection somewhere, either internally, or with the connections. It usually happens when the volume's too loud, and it tries to protect itself.

I'd suggest you unplug everything from it, check all the speaker wires, and then try turning it on, without any devices connected to it.

If it works, turn it off, and reconnect devices, one by one. That should fix it.

If not, it's likely that there's a loose solder inside, and it needs to be sent out for service.

Onkyo TX-SR 605 shuts of when i connect left front speaker

when i connect left front speaker it's shuts down .
That is probably due to protection caused by either
DC or over current. This means your troubleshooting is not complete.
Preform these steps.
Download SR605 service manual.
(a)unplug the amp.
(b)Connect left speaker (c)remove the vertically installed pre-amp board.
See this:
How to do?
1.Unplug the amp.
2.Remove the metal cover.
3.You will see a long vertically installed pre-amp board mounted next to those large power transistors fixed by 12 screws on a large aluminium heat sink.
4.Remove this long vertically installed board mounted by 2 screws.
5.With 2 screws removed, just pulling this board out and hold it with one hand.
(d)Plug the amp and switch it on.
(e)If your amp stays ON forever, the problem is from this long board.
(f)If switch off at once, the problem is from power amp board.
Try the above- mentioned steps to confirm DC or over-
current in left channel.
(g)For DC protection, replace ALL components on left channel of the vertical board.
(h)For over-curremt protection, replace ALL components on left channel.

Replacing ALL components on a faulty channel do not cost you too much.

Onkyo TX-SR 606 KEEPS CLICKING INSTEAD OF TURNING ON WHEN POWERED

Here are your options:

1. An electrical problem, where your receiver has a grounding problem.
2. Your speaker wire connections are actually touching each other and that's why your receiver is not turning on.
