Is this for a "tilt neck model? If so, the manual suggests that there is a small screw in between the base stand and the "neck" of the mixer. You should be able to screw it in or out to adjust it. Good luck!

It's not the small screw I thought it would be. There is a larger screw (of the two that I found) with a head approximately 1/2" in diameter located in the "front of the neck" that needs to be backed out until the screw head itself keeps the neck of the mixer in the correct alignment. There is another smaller screw that is accessed through the bottom of the stand to puts pressure on the pivot pin. This pin has NOTHING to do with adjusting the neck. LOL.

I cannot remove the flat mixing blade, after mixing cake. It has never happened before, just doesn't move up down or sideways! it seems completely locked.

The blade sounds like it's jammed somehow perhaps simply with some food matter.
Ensure the mixer is not plugged in then try removing the bowl, locking the mixer in the down position and pushing up hard on the blade to try and dislodge it. If it comes free and lifts up then try wiggling and rotating it normally off the mount.
Sometimes with use the attachments can become slightly warped requiring more force to lift them before rotating off the mount.
I once used my own Kitchen Aid mixer with the dough hook attachment to make a whole wheat bread dough. When I was done the hook was a bit bent from the hearty dough. There was also some flour in the mount causing it to jam. Removing the hook attachment proved difficult but not imposable.
Good luck.

Kitchen aid mixer makes a sqealing sound. Can

yes it can. just above the rotating head there is 5 screws that can com lose and start rubbing the head as i turns. there is a pin in the the bottom of the spinning head and the only way to get to the screws is to push that pin out and slide it off. there is a few ways to fix the screws from coming out. one is to buy lock washers. these won't allow it to back spin the screws. but you will have to use a file to shave the part of the washers that sticks out. this is the sure way that it won't come out. or you can put lock tite glue to lock them in, but if you need to ever get the screws out again you will break them. before you put the rotating head back on you will need to clean the old grease out because it has metal shavings in it. them replace with a gear grease. just small dabs should do. to much will throw it into the mixing bowl. just put it back together and your good to go.

I have a KSM90 that is about 8 years old. It started leaking oil and the top of the mixer goes down into the bowl too far and it 'drags' the attachment along the bottom of the bowl and makes a generally...

Hi,

It sounds like the Planetary Gear assy. has gear lubricant leaking into it from the gear case above it. This may not be that unusual so there may be 2 possibilities or a combination of both. The Gear Case is directly above the Planetary Gear assy. It is filled (sort of) with a food grade (assuming...I hope) grease that is necessary to keep things lubed. There are fiber washers and possibly an o-ring in the shaft assembly which should keep the grease from migrating toward your food. The Planetary Gear assy. is the part that rotates around on the business end of the mixer. It has a bronze bearing that is intended to run without lubrication. However it is a wear point and if worn sufficiently, could allow escape lubricant from the gear case above to drip into your mix. The Kitchen Aid Service Manual is a good source of info. You can get it as well as complete diagrams of the internal parts at:

You can also get parts and the KitchenAid Service Manual.pdf at:

I know if it was my mixer, I'd give it a look. They're good tools and worth the effort!

Good luck.

Beater rubbing bottom of bowl

This sounds like an issue of beater to bowl adjustment, which can come out of alignment naturally over time and with use of the machine.

If the flat beater is striking the bottom of your bowl, this may cause the locking mechanism to loosen and may cause the mixing head to "bounce" during use.

Your Use and Care Guide will cover the "beater to bowl adjustment," which you can do at home in a few minutes with a flathead screwdriver.

Tilt the head back and remove your cardboard shim. You should see a screw head. Turning this screw adjusts the beater/bowl clearence.
