Ck power at new house ( the plug ) do the lights come on in frig ? if so look for wires under frig that may have been puled off during move .. this should not be a tuff one . / the frig should not been damaged by beeing off . did you lay it down dueing the move ( it chould have been kept upright .. as laying down causes the oil to ru up in the cold coil .) hope this hepls mm

My refrigerator was moved away from the wall and unplugged for 2 weeks. They just moved it back and plugged it in. The displays light up, the lights come on but it is not cooling. What should I do?

Leaving it unplugged for 2 weeks should not have caused any problems. The fridge may have been on a defrost cycle. As the unit is unlikely to have had any frost, it should have started refrigerating about 15 to 25 minutes after plugging it in.

My 13 yr old frigidare refrigerator quit freezing in freezer and getting cold in bottom part. Fans, light still run.

You're looking at the end of the life expectancy for a refrigerator. The unit's compressor system, which forces the coolant through the coil system, is driven by a capacitor-type motor. Before doing any work on a refrigerator or freezer, make sure it's unplugged. After unplugging the unit, check to see if the motor/compressor has a capacitor; this component is located in a housing on the top of the motor. Capacitors store electricity, even when the power to the unit is turned off. Before you do any work on a capacitor-type refrigerator or freezer, you must discharge the capacitor, or you could receive a severe shock. Most likely this capacitor has gone.

Refrigerator was bought 5yrs ago(brand new)it worked perfectly until then....put it in storage 4 six months...when i moved it into my house i plugged it up...can hear it on but yet to get cold....left it...

Hi
Is your fridge compressor motor working and can you hear it turn on and off every hour or so. Not to be confused with the sound coming from the fan inside the fridge.
If the motor is working but neither the fridge or freezer compartment are getting cold, then there may have been a rupture during transport and gas has escaped.

Moved refridgerator to new house plugged it in will not come on lights or nothing. New had only 1 month. What would cause this?

Hi,
Here is a tip that I wrote on moving refrigerators...if you did not do it thisway then you may well have ruined a perfectly good refrigerator.

Moving a Refrigerator What is thebest way

If you already have moved it wrong, you can sometimes get it working byplugging it in and unplugging it a number of times with an hour or so inbetween.

Did you remove the cover in the back of the freezer section?, see if the fan motor is turning, if the fan is not turning you will need to replace it and this will correct the problem allowing the air to circulate.

GE REFRIGERATOR FAN AND COMPRESSOR DOES NOT WORK, BUT LIGHTS TURN ON.

  • Unplug the power cord of the refrigerator
  • Locate the fan plug (usually next to the water valve), unplug it
  • Try to spin the fan blade by your finger, if it has too much friction, lube it with small motor oil (sewing machine oil etc)
  • Clean up all accumulated dust.
  • Plug it back, it should work (fan motor is thermally protected so it won't burn out)

Refrigerator doesn't stay on.

sounds like when you moved it you created an air lock, when moving fridges etc. should always leave for 24 hrs to settle before plugging in.... , no guarantee but try laying it down and leaving overnight then stand it up again and leave for at least 24 hrs for the refrigerant to try and sort itself out. UNPLUGGED from mains of course... good luck

Unplug it for around 30 mins. then plug it back in and see what happens. Try this before anything.
